Today marks an incredible milestone, 80 years of Bartlett Equipment supporting the Australian heavy vehicle industry through engineering, manufacturing, innovation and family dedication. Managing Director Allan Bartlett has shared a personal reflection on the journey, the people who helped shape the business, and a great piece of Bartlett history from 1975.

Hi Everyone
Saturday 9th May 2026 marks 80 years for Bartlett Equipment as engineers, designers, manufacturers, and heavy vehicle modifiers, to the Australian heavy vehicle industry.

As Managing Director, I extend my sincere gratitude to the hard work of my forebears, close and extended family, all past and present staff and contractors, excellent suppliers, loyal customers, and valued industry connections.

This picture taken by my grandfather and company founder, Norm Bartlett is of myself in 1975 inspecting a row of Bedford/Isuzu SPG540 6X2 twin steer trucks, lined up for Bartlett’s own designed and made, load-sharing, lazy axle suspension conversion. I didn’t quite understand the subtle immersion project going on at the time, but wouldn’t change a thing.

Long live family business!

"In 2025, former director and long-time lead engineer of Bartlett Equipment, Geoff Bartlett, sent himself into country Victoria on a mission to find an early Bartlett trailer for restoration.

Geoff’s boyhood memory from the very early 1950’s extended to remembering the name of the Hobbs family farm in Horsham, to which Norm Bartlett delivered one of our innovative 3 wheeled (Post WW2 surplus DC3 hubs and tyres), tipping grain bin trailers. The black and white photo shows Norm taking a photo of the trailer on the way to delivery. Geoff used to occasionally ride jockey on those trips.

Through some good detective work, Geoff tracked down the Hobbs family in Horsham who still had the old trailer in a shed, and now we’re busy taking skin off knuckles stripping and restoring the trailer under Geoff’s lead. Not sure what we're going to do with it, but we're enjoying the project. Pic 2 is Geoff overseeing the unloading of the trailer - Back home in Hallam."

Bartlett Factory Visit – Hallam Melbourne
We were proud to host Brad Battin MP, our local Member of Parliament and Victorian Opposition Leader, at our factory this week. Brad saw first-hand the engineering, innovation, and product development Bartlett has refined over the decades, including our new robotic welders and ongoing R&D programs driving growth across Australia and into global markets. It’s great to see genuine political interest in Australian manufacturing, engineering, and design — and to showcase the people and technology behind Bartlett’s success.

What a weekend!

Bartlett Equipment was proud to attend the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show — and what a show it was. One of the busiest (if not the busiest) events we’ve ever seen, packed with energy, innovation, and great conversations.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with customers, suppliers, and industry professionals from across Australia and around the globe. A big thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat — hearing your positive feedback and insights means the world to us.

We were also pleased to participate in side events with ARTSA-i (the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association – Intelligence), the industry body working to improve safety for our customers and the entire transport sector. Supporting safety in our industry isn’t just important — it’s essential.

Thanks again to the BTS25 team for putting on such a well-run and impactful event.
