FYI - Further permitted repairs now allowed under the current restrictions are as follows:

- Accident damage & other damaged vehicles can be repaired where it is required to maintain the health & safety of Victorians at home or at work.

- Permitted vehicle repairs include any vehicle that is not functioning correctly can be repaired (the vehicle does not need to be deemed unroadworthy now). If a vehicle is being repaired, maintenance & servicing can also be completed at the same time.

- The owner of the vehicle does not need to be a permitted worker for the vehicle to be repaired. However, in a non-permitted worker context, the vehicle repair must be for emergency travel purposes.

- Vehicle owners can travel outside the 5km bubble to have their vehicle repaired if the vehicle requires a specialist and/or brand-specific workplace in order to complete repairs.

- Cosmetic repairs, where the vehicle’s functionality is not impaired, are still not permitted at this stage.

How can you protect your car from hail damage?

*If possible, avoid driving in severe weather.
*If you’re stuck driving in an intense storm, pull over to the side of the road when & where it is safe to do so.
*Do not drive through floodwater - even a small amount of floodwater can make a car lose control & float like a boat.
*Find cover – a garage, awning or undercover car park. Do not park under trees or anything else that might blow over in strong winds.
*If your car is parked without any cover, place a thick blanket/doona over your car & use your car’s floor mats to protect the windscreen.
*Make sure your car Insurance is up to date.
