πβ±οΈ AFTER NEARLY 20 YEARS, AARON IS HANGING UP THE STOPWATCHβ¦ FOR NOW! β±οΈπ
There are plenty of people who make speedway happen on a Saturday night, but some of the most important are the ones you rarely hear from or see.
And Aaron is certainly one of those people!
Aaron's journey in timing began back in 2007, when the V8 Dirt Modifieds purchased their very first transponder timing system.
What started as timing just one division soon saw Aaron travelling all over the countryside, looking after timing for V8 Dirt Modified events wherever they raced.
Then, around 11 years ago, as transponder timing became a regular part of racing at Lismore and Grafton Speedways, Aaron's role grew considerably.
Instead of timing just the V8 Dirt Modifieds, he suddenly found himself responsible for timing every division on the program!
And that's exactly what he's been doing ever since.
Anyone who knows Aaron knows he's a man of few words. He's never been one to chase the spotlight, but almost every Saturday night, you'd find him up in the tower, quietly going about his job, making sure the timing was right and the racing kept moving.
Week after week. Season after season. Year after year. π
Unfortunately, with work commitments now taking up the majority of his weekends, Aaron has made the decision to hang up the stopwatch for the time being.
While we're certainly going to miss having him in the tower each weekend, we completely understand, and after almost two decades of dedication, he's certainly earned a few Saturday nights away from the speedway!
From everyone at Lismore and Grafton Speedways, THANK YOU, AARON! β€οΈπ
Your dedication, reliability and countless hours behind the scenes have played a massive part in keeping our race meetings running. It's something we genuinely appreciate.
And don't worry, Aaronβ¦ we're not saying goodbye. We're just giving you a break! π
β±οΈ WANT TO GIVE TIMING A GO? WE NEED YOUR HELP!
With Aaron stepping back, we're now looking for Timing Operators at both Lismore and Grafton Speedways.
We're hoping to build a small team of operators who can share the workload, meaning no one person needs to give up every Saturday night to keep the timing running.
If you're comfortable using a computer, have an interest in motorsport and would like to get involved behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you!
β
Training and guidance can be provided.
β
You don't need to commit to every race meeting.
β
Be part of the team that makes race night happen.
Whether you're a regular speedway supporter or someone looking to get involved in a different side of the sport, this could be a great opportunity.
π© Interested? Send a message to either the Lismore Speedway or Grafton Speedway page.
And before we finish, let's give Aaron the recognition he deserves.
Drop a comment below and thank Aaron for nearly 20 years of keeping us all on time! ππ
