Don’t panic!!
The reason the sign is down is ive painted the front of the workshop, no other reason. I’m not going anywhere.

Fkn disgraceful.

The price of car parts never fails to amaze me. I’ve been a mechanic for 42yrs and today I was shocked and disgusted.

As you may be aware many vehicle manufacturers share models/ platforms/ parts

A FORD Ranger is extremely similar to a MAZDA BT50.

One of my customers needed a new gear lever gaiter on his BT50. I called my local parts dept (who are dealers for many manufacturers) and was amazed that MAZDA wanted $750 for this small item, so I asked the parts interpreter if he’d mind checking the price of the FORD part?
Exact same part number
Mazda $750
Ford $85

Yes, a difference of over $650!!!!

How can this be ?
Is it even legal?

It’s fkn disgusting!!!!!

I worked in a Mazda dealership many years ago and although they are awesome/ reliable vehicles, they customers biggest concern were the prices of replacement parts.

Who makes these prices up?

If you feel your vehicle may have a close alternative from a different manufacturer (ie Hyundai/kia) give them both a call to see if you can get the SAME part at a much better price.

FYI a common steering component that fails on Kia and Hyundai vehicles is the exact same part on both manufacturers but KIA sell the part cheaper than Hyundai

CLOUDY HEADLAMP LENSES?

Look at the photos of the headlights I managed to restore back to crystal clear condition today.
No need to replace the lights as they can usually be cleaned, giving you much better visibility at night.

This young girl called in today as she felt her car slide as she went around a corner. Good job she called inas all 4 tyres are bald and extremely dangerous in todays weather conditions 🌧️🌧️🌧️

I get tyre deliveries every day so call past for goid old fashioned service

****PROCEED WITH CAUTION****

I’ve just had a young girl call in for an quick opinion on her car. She’s been to a repairer who’s carried out a service and given her a long list of additional work that is “needed”. Amongst the list of “needed” work she’s been told that she needs 4 new tyres as they are all worn and in need of replacement. She was told this verbally and nothing written on paper. The young lady was confused as she had 4 tyres fitted just last year and wanted my opinion.
On checking the tyres the fronts were 20% worn and the rears 30% worn and definitely NOT needing replacement!

Sad that this kind of rip off tactics are still around.

Yesterday someone asked me if $600 for a battery in there vehicle was a fair price.……………NO, not when could fit one for half that amount.

Sad.
