Meet the gentleman's s14.5 racecar BooHoo. A car that is easily driven on the street, driven to the track with the ability to be raced and be fast, then delivering it's exhausted raced out driver home ready for another.

This high end beast oozes quality with its high end components and safety equipment assembled with care and attention to detail.

Powered by the heart of a Japanese legendary tuning company Tomei being a Genesis 2.2L long engine equipped with their high end components and 272 camshafts.

To be able to dial in and have absolute accurate ignition timing to ensure engine health a crank trigger kit and upgraded harmonic balancer was added all wired via a custom motorsport loom to a ecu which also has the main safe gaurds in place such as fuel + oil pressure, flex sensor, lambda and oil + fuel temperature.

Strapped to the the side of the engine sits a 6 boost manifold and gtx30/71 and on the other a individual throttle body manifold (itb) and custom intercooler piping mating it all together. The boost is kept under control via a 4 port mac valve and 38mm gate and a gfb fuel reg keeping the fuel pressure to the 1650 injectors. In the fueling department we have twin dw300 pumps submerged in a surge tank in ether e85 or 98 due to the flex tune with the car making an easy 508hp at the rears on just 27psi limited to just 7500. There is plenty more power there and power still is climbing with rpm also but highest hp is not the goal with this ride as 500 makes this beast fast enough and can be unsafe in the wrong hands.

Putting the power down we have a rebuilt series 3 rb25 gearbox and billet direct clutch twin plate, custom shaft and r200 diff with 4.1 ratio and a pair of 10" rims with 265 tyres.

In the braking department has a 300zx master cyl AP front brakes and nissan 2 pots rear being the whole rear end is from a r33 gts-t topped off with some bushed adjustable arms for an accurate alignment and maximum grip plus a gktec brace and gussets has been added in up front.

The inside features a half cage, bride kevlar seats and emtron keypad to allow fine tuning the boost in to match the grip of the surfaces being driven on and a racing steering wheel.

The car is fully resprayed in a colour that pops in the sunlight called messing metallic coming from a bmw m3 which sets the car off glistens gold as it moves up the road. Another great thing with this lovley car is we added modification plates and codes to all the mods on the car to make it a truly hasstle street car and is very easy to drive, very smooth with the quad throttles. The exhaust is another great one being a fully custom made 304ss tig welded 3.5" with a actual high performance catalytic convertor to be rid of harmful gasses to keep authorities happy and a varex rear muffler to make those early am starts and get aways to events easier on the family and or people living next door to continue their beauty sleep on Sunday mornings.

So awesome now the new software from cobb has now been released so that we can carry out tuning on the new cvt transmission optioned cars. This one in particular has had all the bolt on components ready to go since the lovley owners took delivery of their wrx and as they become avalible and would have to say Matt and Anita have been the pioneers of the cvt wrx here in aus with great results. Stock standard the car made a little under 160kw back in 2022 before any bolt-ons were added and a little over 200kw as shown on the graphs blue line on stock tune with the bolt-ons which include a StepUp Automotive 3.5" exhaust, ets top mount intercooler, StepUp charge pipe, turbosmart bov and ets air intake. Now with the cobb protune making a a healthy 227kw with plenty more in the tank it is a whole different car to everyone who has experienced it.

we had the pleasure of taking care of Matt's newly acquired Evo 9 GTA Wagon. Sadly the engine had main bearing noise due to poor oil pressure and treatment in it's previous life. Happily for Matt we were able to source a brand new OEM Evo 9 crank, rods and pistons with new OEM rings and bearings and rebuilt the enigne in house. Whilst removed we had our engineers fully recondition the cylinder head. Using the brand new OEM evo 9 crank, rods and pistons rings and bearings we fully rebuilt this engine inhouse and installed the freshly reconditioned head from Donnelly Engineering with a nice new set of ARP headstuds and OEM head gasket. Despite popular belief we can say that the Evo 9 GTA wagon has evo 7 internals. Whilst this was under way we felt this was a good opportunity to carry out few upgrades in the transmission whilst it was out. With this freshen up to the engine and with full service a few improvements and upgrades including our in house oiling system modifications, upgraded fuel pump, full upgraded exhaust which consists of high flow catalytic convertor and 3.5" muffler, full vehicle service, injector cleaning, upgraded wastegate actuator, we have been able to provide Matt with a nice little package that will live for many, many years to come. Making an easy 300+hp with and Evo8 GSR TD05 16g 9.8mm Turbo making a super quick and reliable Evo 9 Wagon for many years to come. Happy motoring Matt

After a big week out testing and dialing our shop we are over the moon with the results especially with only having the top mount intercooler in the hot and humid weather atm.
Starting with a private track day where we took both our evo and wrx along with staff members for a great fun day out driving which alternated from multiple circuit sprint sessions on all of the circuit layouts and roll racing the wrx definitely surprised many punching above its weight. Gotta say it handles superbly with the reds coil overs and adjustable rear arm setup.
All the staff members out there had a fantastic time gaining more experience from the event and being able to go out and push the cars both around the corners and up the straight aways in a safe environment.

Tina and I last night were finally able to get the wrx to for a test and tune arriving in less than desirable weather conditions but still ended up with great results with first pass being 11.9sec 1/4 mile pass hard in rev limiter in 4th gear at 110mph and wheel spin off the line. The second pass with more wheel spin running a 12.0 at 115mph for me and unfortunately due to storms the event was rained out. Our Jockey Tina got to lay a single pass down also running a 12.0 but at 108mph with a bog off the line and a miss shift in the top end so looking forward to see what Tina can do in it on the next outing.
With some more grip and cooler weather there is definitely some lower times there and higher mph but for the moment we are happy to be the first vb wrx into the 11sec braket in Australia.

Approaching this build was something else chasing that perfect mix of class, drivability, horsepower whilst bringing the car to a 2023 spec vehicle featuring engine protection and features such as cruise control, rolling antilag, traction control strategies amongst other inhouse key features when it comes to usability.
After many years working on James's lovely Mitsubishi Evolution 8MR from being a FP green setup on stock engine making 300kw and being one of the first evos in the country to run a Emtron ecu many years ago.
The plan for the build had been coming for many years, with the intention to build a brand new engine, so that the original engine & transmission could be put into storage should there be a day if wanting to return the car back to stock, due to the forever increase in value of these cars. After 16 years of ownership James and I got to tracking down the vital components required for this build.
Featured in this build and wanting to stay a stock frame turbo setup a brand new evo 9 block and mivec cylinder head were sourced, we then filled the block with a 2.2L stroker kit from and cylinder head, a set of GSC r2 camshafts into a brand new cnc ported (street port) mivec evo 9 cylinder head.
manifolds were chosen for the task at hand due to the high quality, being Aus made and the ability to produce the results everytime on our setups with the intake being a twin rail type which has a set of id1300 and a set of id1700 fuel injectors.
On the hot side strapped to the exhaust manifold a custom turbo was developed for the task by the good guys from being a it6060 with a couple of extra features to achieve the results James was searching for, we then went in and connected all the dots with some inhouse fabrication to add to that look of quality along with being able to supply and extract the good and bad air to and from the engine and systems.
In the fueling department we went with a dual intank hanger from fitted with a pair of fuel pumps all custom wired to get the most out of them possible, along with custom made fuel lines made from products.
Along with the new set up was a 6 speed to 5 speed gearbox conversion carried out with the new 5 speed being full of a straight cut gearset with carbon lined syncros and a triple plate clutch due to the fantastic results we have had using this clutch over years of drag racing mixed with street duties in our own vehicles.
In the ecu hardware department we removed the evo 9 plug in and went ahead with a kv8, keypad, can gauge and etc 4 for individual exhaust temps and an array of pressure and temperature sensors used to monitor oil, fuel and manifold pressures and temperatures along with a fuel flex sensor for the ability to use either pump, unleaded or pump e85.

Kicking off with a surprise in the first stages tuning up our vb wrx! As most know we have been manufacturing quite a few performance components in-house starting off with the 3.5" turbo back exhaust, i-pipe and catback exhaust systems including upgraded air intake with air box and intercooler charge pipe with more StepUp components being released after testing over the next few weeks.
With our shop boasting the StepUp 3.5" turbo back system, StepUp air intake and cooler pipe a duel port a top mount intercooler and tuned using the software we were able to successfully achieve a healthy 256kw & 467nm on pump premium unleaded including a even more tyre spinning sideways action 289kw & 548nm with an ethanol mix in the premium unleaded fuel which are in our eyes fantastic results plus showing the potential of the brand new engine & platform.
We are excited to see what we can do with further development and how much the new wrx can handle. For the mean time keep an eye on the insta and fb stories to stay up to date with the progress of this beaut vehicle.
