One Queensland hailstorm, and suddenly the roof was covered in dents.

The good news? Hail damage doesn’t always mean the panel is beyond repair. The right repair depends on the depth and location of the dents and the condition of the paintwork.

After repair, this one is looking like itself again.

The Before & After says it all.

A small rubber gasket has one important job — keeping engine oil where it belongs.

Over time, heat and ageing can cause the gasket to harden and lose its seal, leading to oil leaks.

The repair involves more than simply replacing the gasket: remove the necessary components, clean the sealing surfaces, fit the new gasket correctly, reassemble and check for leaks.

Find the source first. Fix it properly.

More Than Just Selling a Car — Know the Condition First

A customer recently asked us to help sell his Mercedes. Before listing it, we didn’t just take a few photos and put up an ad.

We first checked the vehicle, reviewed its overall condition and maintenance status, and made sure the important information was clear for potential buyers.

After preparing the car and listing it properly, it sold the same day.

That’s where being a mechanical workshop makes a difference. We understand what buyers actually want to know — not just how the car looks, but how it has been maintained and whether there are any issues they should be aware of.

A good sale starts with knowing the car properly.

A Full Day in the Workshop 🔧

Some days are complicated diagnostics.
Some days are simply service after service, oil change after oil change.

It may be routine maintenance, but every vehicle still gets the same attention — correct oil specification, proper fluid levels, filter checks and a general inspection before it leaves the workshop.

A busy day, a tired mechanic, and a few happier engines. 😄

A vehicle came in needing a replacement hose. Sounds simple — until you see how many options there are.

Different models, years and engine configurations can use hoses with slightly different **connections, sizes and routing**. A part that looks almost identical may still be the wrong fit.

That’s why we take the time to check part numbers, vehicle details and fittings before installation.
The repair might take 10 minutes. Finding the right part can take an hour.

Taking a little longer to get the right part is always better than making the “close enough” one fit.

When a vehicle arrives with significant accident damage, the first priority is always the same: **make sure everyone involved is safe.**

The vehicle can be assessed afterwards.

Accident damage isn’t always something you can judge from appearance alone. Before deciding whether a vehicle can or should be repaired, it’s important to assess the **extent of the damage, structural components, safety-related systems and overall repair requirements**.

If you’ve been involved in an accident and aren’t sure what to do with your vehicle, you’re welcome to contact us first. Send us some photos and vehicle details, and we can help assess the situation from a repair perspective and discuss the available options.

Where insurance or accident-related assistance is involved, we can also help guide you towards the appropriate services.

Most importantly, drive safely and look after yourself. Cars can be repaired or replaced. People can’t.

Not sure what’s wrong with your car?
Need a service, have a warning light, or just noticed something doesn’t feel right?

**Start by asking us.**

Send us a message with your vehicle details and what you’ve noticed. We can get an idea of the situation first and, if it needs a closer look, arrange a time for you to bring it in.

As you can see from the Reel, the workshop has been pretty busy lately — so booking ahead is always recommended.

It gives us enough time to properly look after each vehicle, rather than simply rushing through the queue.

👉Step 1: Get in touch.
We’ll help you with the rest.

Transmission Oil Changed — Job Done? Not Quite.

This vehicle came in for a routine service, and during our inspection we found the transmission fluid was due for attention.

Changing the fluid is only part of the job.

Once the transmission pan was removed, we could inspect the condition inside and clean away the old fluid residue and normal wear deposits that had collected over time.

Transmission fluid plays an important role in lubrication, cooling and hydraulic operation, so its condition matters. When the pan is removed, it’s also a good opportunity to check for anything unusual rather than simply drain, refill and move on.

Transmission fluid isn’t something that needs replacing at every service. The right timing depends on the vehicle, transmission, service schedule and actual condition.

A proper service starts with checking what the car actually needs.

This Mercedes-Benz had previously been serviced at GM Auto, with the wheel bolts tightened to the manufacturer-specified torque.

When the owner later visited Costco for a tyre change, their team was unable to loosen one of the wheel bolts, so the vehicle was brought back to us for assistance.

We loosened the bolt and had the vehicle ready to return for its tyre service shortly after.

It’s a small job, but a good reminder that wheel bolts shouldn’t simply be tightened “as much as possible.” Correct torque specifications matter for both installation and future servicing.

At GM Auto, we follow the appropriate manufacturer specifications when working on your vehicle—whether it’s a routine service or a larger repair.
