Old-school GTRs on the dyno 🇯🇵
An R33 GT-R and two R32 GT-Rs through Motorsport Tuning Solutions recently for diagnostics and tuning on our Mainline dyno.
All three cars are still running the tried-and-tested APEXi Power FC — an ECU that’s been around for a very long time now!
Getting these older cars running properly on older ECU technology can take some work, but there’s still plenty we can do with the Power FC. With the right setup and calibration, they can still produce a good result and we continue to offer APEXi Power FC tuning and diagnostics.
That said, ECU technology has come a LONG way.
For customers wanting to take the next step, we highly recommend upgrading to a Link G4X PlugIn ECU. You retain the plug-and-play installation while gaining far more control, better tuning capability, modern data logging and — most importantly — proper engine protection strategies and safeties that simply aren’t available with the Power FC.
You can absolutely still tune and enjoy a GT-R on a Power FC, but investing in a modern ECU like the Link G4X gives us significantly more control over the engine and ultimately allows us to deliver a much more refined and protected package.
