LandCruisers 80 Series and 100 Series.
Two legends. One soundtrack that never gets old!

It all started with the turbos.

The 2JZ-GTE is an absolute legend of an engine, but even legends have parts that don’t live forever. Especially the factory 25 years old turbos, especially when the factory boost has been wound up another 5–6 psi, especially with a manual boost controller without even permanently mounted boost gauge😁

At first, it sounded simple enough:
“Yeah, we’ll just change the turbos.”

But with a 2JZ, that’s how the rabbit hole begins 😄

Because then you start thinking:
If we’re doing turbos, should we add more power?
And if we’re adding more power… how are the rings looking?
Are the bearings still happy?
What condition is the block actually in?

And that’s how we went from “just swap the turbos” to the engine being out, pistons on the bench, everything getting cleaned, and a bare short block staring back at us.

Welcome to the long, messy, slightly dangerous DIY journey of rebuilding a 2JZ-GTE.

Should be easy, right? Just need some J-B Weld, duct tape and a suspicious amount of WD-40

I work all night, I work all day… just to build this 2JZ the way it deserves.

Every bolt, every detail — obsessed with getting it perfect. And yeah, it’s not cheap…

“Money, Money, Money” might as well be playing on repeat every time I’m working on this engine.

Who else is deep in the build life like this? Drop a 🔥 comment if you feel me.

“These LandCruisers have done over 1 MILLION km combined.”
The 80 Series: 420,000 km
The 100 Series: 620,000 km

So… why are they still going strong?

Yes — they’re Toyotas.
Yes — both run the legendary 1HDFTE engine.

But that’s not the full story.

Both owners have stuck with Genuine Toyota parts for every stage of maintenance — and that’s made all the difference 👇

✔️ Genuine oil, fuel & air filters for consistent servicing
✔️ Timing belt kits + water pumps for major maintenance
✔️ Diesel injector fuel load pipes for serious engine work
✔️ Thermostats to keep temperatures in check
✔️ Genuine brake pads & hoses for safety
✔️ Wiper arms & nozzles for all-weather driving
✔️ Wheel hubs to keep everything running smooth

No shortcuts. Just proper care, genuine parts, and attention over time.
