Bob gets deep. Soo remember from last post, the manifold needed to come off, well after removing various length bolts, some with only 2 threads holding we got the manifold off. Next surprise, the ports had been hogged out massively , nothing done to the bowls or manifold, just a big old low pressure area. We talked to the guy we got it off, who had no idea about this and he got us a pair of unmolested castings, happy days.

Bob’s challenges start. So a full reman 460 ford was purchased which had seen a couple of owners but had not been run, for all intensive purposes it looked the goods. We new the sump was going to be wrong, and we new that someone had changed the camshaft and done some ”head work” on the cylinder heads. So what could go wrong. We rotated the engine on the engine stand to remove the sump, and low and behold we have oil leaking out of the front and rear of the manifold/block mating point? And 2 bolts fell clean out of the manifold, too short! Ok lets pull the manifold off and fix the leaks.

Everybody, meet Bob. Bob is a 1956 Ford F100 that we are doing for a good customer as a good cruiser with some go. Don’t worry we aren’t using this cab, its just a dummy cab so we don’t scratch the good one. The good cab and tub have already been restored and painted a shade of Hilux silver.

Finishing the "I got scammed by my mate" car story.

One happy camper here, Heading out the door after a makeover.

there is still a couple of tidy-ups to do that he wanted to have a go at himself (left hand rear strut is on the right hand side and vice versa).

We have a slight concern in the back of our head, the gearbox had been loaded up by the slug of steel in the end of the crank shaft but it test drove fine.

Again a big thank you to Elite chassis and fabrication, Eastwood engine developments and SA cylinder heads for all your help on this project.

And here it is, with new paint straight off of the spray gun. Thanks again to Paul at Elite Chassis and Fabrication for the awesome effort. Now it looks like it deserves the new motor.
