Wellington, in East Melbourne was a project that required us to think a bit differently and let the heritage house guide us on a design outcome. The beautiful facade demanded a timeless look to keep in line with its regal bones, yet also needed to complement the contemporary renovation commencing at the rear of the home. We used a selection of crape myrtle trees, creeping rosemary prostrate, buxus ball hedges, ficus hedges to elevate the outdoor areas. The result is transforming colours throughout seasonal change, adding depth and warmth to the inner city yard. Our choice of elongated granite cobble baguettes in the driveway, along with the design of a contemporary garage structure give a luxurious and refreshed entrance to the home. In the contemporary end of the property, we use herringbone tiles and huge granite platforms to step out of the house and into the courtyard. This project resulted in a stunning example of how less can be more and that quality over quantity always prevails!
