🚨 Fuel Excise & Road User Charge Update – July 2026 🚨

The Federal Government has just confirmed a temporary change to fuel tax settings for July, stepping back from full relief but avoiding the feared “cliff” on 1 July.

👉 What’s changing from 1 July to 2 August:

⛽ Fuel excise relief continues at 16 cents per litre (half of the previous discount)

🚛 Heavy Vehicle Road User Charge (RUC) returns at 16 cents per litre

👉 Context:

April–June: full relief (excise cut ~32c/L, RUC set to zero)
July: partial reset — both excise and RUC move back in equally

👉 What this means for operators:

Fuel costs will increase compared to the past 3 months.

However, this is a staged reintroduction, not a sudden jump.

Fuel tax credits remain effectively unchanged due to the matched adjustment

This approach is designed to:
✔ Avoid a major price shock
✔ Reduce end-of-June panic buying
✔ Support industry as fuel markets stabilise

📅 Important: This is a temporary arrangement only through to early August, with no confirmation yet on what happens next.

LRTAQ will continue to advocate for certainty and fair cost recovery for operators.

Yesterday we did our traditional Marburg Anzac service and as always extremely moving. This year has been the hardest Anzac Day for me. Standing there, I tried to reflect on all the men, women and animals who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who gave their lives in the line of duty. It’s a very emotional day good and bad. Listening to their stories of what they went through to serve our country.

But my thoughts kept coming back to Ben, and what he and his family are going through right now. He gave so much everything for this country, and it’s hard not to feel like we’re falling short in how we support him and others like him.

On a day where we honour sacrifice, courage, and mateship, I can’t help but ask are we truly living up to those values?

Please, Australia, take a moment to reflect not just on the past, but on how we care for our veterans and their families today. Thank you

We want to take a moment to wish this amazing man, Geoff Huddy from BPW Transpec, all the very best as he heads into retirement.

Geoff has worked at BPW for 28 years and Shane has worked alongside for over 15 years, and throughout that time his knowledge, experience, and dedication have been nothing short of outstanding. He will truly be missed.

Anyone who has had the privilege of working with Geoff knows the incredible wealth of knowledge he brings and the genuine way he shares it.

When we started our own business four years ago, Geoff was a huge supporter and someone we could always turn to for advice. Not only has he been a fantastic rep, but an even better friend.
While we’re lucky we’ll still catch up from time to time, he will certainly be missed on the business side of things.
