A catch can acts as sort of a filter- its mission is to catch oil droplets from entering the turbo hot side- and entering the intercooler- when oil enters a intercooler it reduces the cooling efficiency by forming a sort of thermal blanket- the cooler the air entering the engine under boost the more power - also a few pics of my painted tappet cover- yeah baby

A little bit more elaboration on just how bad this lower control arm fault is- the front lower control arm bush housing completely snapped off.- In my 40 odd years as a Mechanic- I have never seen a front lower bush housing snapped off like this- HOWEVER! Further investigation- I found the tyre had a severe defect- actual- out of round- it is possible the tyre caused lateral force on the the lower control arm- compounding side force possibly causing a stress fracture- then eventual complete failure- to make things worse- the bushes where after market neoprene bushes- so the the out of round tyre was causing lateral stress on the front inner control arm bush housing- because the bush was neoprene they do not have any give or flex like rubber bushes- the force went through the bush on to the housing which eventually cause stress fracture then eventual failure- this is why I recommend rubber bushes for suspension components- M

Young man driving home @ 65 kmph when the front lower control arm front bush housing snapped away from the subframe causing his drive shaft to pull out from the transmission lost total control of the driver’s side wheel - lucky young man - M
