LIVING the DREAM
Originally named Shalimar (1992), then Voyager, then Canadian Club and now Living the Dream. The reason for sharing the history is to indicate that Living the Dream was very well built and was a leading houseboat of its time in the early 1990’s with the modern layout. A saying we have is, she has good bones.

Having said this, and to be straight with you, Living the Dream is due for a Birthday and consequently is priced accordingly.

If you purchased Living the Dream at its Asking Price and then spent around $200k to $250k on sensible upgrades you would have an excellent holiday home and not be over capitalized if she owed, you around $650k. Brought up to this standard there are houseboats that have sold recently for far more than this figure.

Suggestions for upgrades include recladding the external cladding and all eaves with composite aluminium.

Extend the rear deck by up to 9feet and then refit a 6feet wide hydraulic duckboard to keep within the 60feet in length. With the extension extend the rear deck side walls with glass & stainless steel trim. Replace the decking with Infinity Decking.
Install a rear Thruster Unit; include a pontoon storage compartment for all the on-water toys.

On the First Storey Level at the rear, extend the deck to maintain the in-situ lines of the houseboat. This will enable a larger Al Fresco area. Extend the side walls with glass and stainless steel trim. Instal rear stacker doors leaving a rear external area open to the rear stainless steel guardrails. Importantly, this will create a second all year-round entertainment/relaxation space for the other generation and can be used whatever the weather presents.

The front of the first storey level is wasted space; suggest moving the Master Bedroom forward and include an ensuite. The former Master Bedroom can be reconfigured to provide another bedroom and a passageway, most probably a bunk room.

With the Top Deck, repair the fibreglass decking and then install the Infinity Decking. Remove old fibreglass cupboards, bench seats and the remote helm. Replace the guardwalls with Composite Aluminium. Provide appropriate storage boxes for new R/C Air-Conditioner Units as I would replace the current older cassette air-conditioner units. Add appropriate furniture to enjoy the sun and views. Maybe a small kitchenette with a bar fridge.

New carpet is required throughout the houseboat. The main kitchen at Water Level will require an upgrade with new appliances and a more modern feel. Reconfigure the entrance to the bathroom to enable a more private front guest bedroom.

With Technology the motor is a Mercruiser V8 and should be fine. There is already a front thruster unit; you would consider a rear thruster unit as well. A new Generator is required. There is an Outback Inverter which is OK but could be upgraded to a higher capacity. The Solar Charge Controller requires an upgrade. The Gel Batteries are only a couple of years old and should still be OK for a number of years.

There are photos on file of underneath the houseboat from when she was slipped in 2023 Feb. There is a centre pontoon, and the main side pontoons appeared to be in very good condition, at that time.

In summary, yes, she is due for a big birthday, however, you would be purchasing a houseboat with “good bones”, modern layout, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
If you purchased her at the Asking Price and then budgeted to spend around $200k to $250k on the Birthday refit you would not be overcapitalized and have a great family holiday home on magical Lake Eildon.

MANHATTAN
The connotations to many of Manhattan relate to the top end of town. When Manhattan was built in 1990 and then upgrade by Ian Kemp Marine, she certainly was at the top end of town on Lake Eildon at that time.
Manhattan provided a great modern layout with side kitchen and rear lounge at water level. Manhattan was certainly about providing a great experience for a family with two main bedrooms and two bunkrooms. Plus, there are two bathrooms with the master bedroom on the first storey level having direct access.

All this has been lovingly cared for over the journey by its current owners and today still presents as a great family holiday home.

Important to point out, in 1990 the maximum width of a houseboat permitted was 18feet. There are 18feet wide houseboats with side walkways making the cabin width around 16feet. Then there are 18feet wide houseboats with the cabin built to the gunnels (edge of the houseboat) making the cabin very close to the 18feet width. This is very similar to the 20feet in width houseboats which have walkways along the sides. Many houseboats similar to Manhattan have since added walkways and are now classed as 20feet wide houseboats. This could be done with Manhattan.

The important message is the internal of the cabin at water level on Manhattan is very similar to a 20feet wide houseboat, which many people seek.
Continuing the history of love and care Manhattan has recently been out of the water with pontoons and motor leg serviced (Nov 2025). A new GMW CHIR was issued. Photos of underneath the houseboat are on file if you would like to access them.

Further, maintenance works were undertaken with the decking on all levels checked, replaced if required and repainted. This included the hydraulic duckboard and side boat board. Old marine carpet was removed. All eaves are now composite aluminium which reduces further maintenance as well as looking great. The Sun Canopy on the Top Deck has been replaced and upgraded. The treads on the external stairs have been replaced and now are a lot safer. New recessed rope storage boxes have been installed on the front deck providing a lot more space. The timber flooring in the rear lounge is all new.

Over the journey the Solar Electrics have been upgraded and today there is a high quality Victron Energy Multi-Plus 3000watt Inverter/Charger System, a Victron Energy Smart Solar Charge Controller and 8 Solar Panels. The house batteries have been upgraded to LiFeP04 12,8v 300AH Lithium Batteries x 4. These are all backed up by a Quicksilver QS7.5G Generator. Plenty of power and this large expense is UpToDate.

To move Manhattan to your favourite spot on the Lake there is a powerful V8 5.0lt Mercruiser. Importantly, there is a Bow Thruster to assist manoeuvrability.
Other inclusions of note are the R/C Air-Conditioning on the two levels. Starlink technology has been added not only for reliable TV reception but also for the internet. To enjoy the rear decks experiences there are quality cassette electric sun awnings on both levels.

After having been out of the water recently and all the maintenance and upgrading works undertaken, Manhattan presents as a very inviting holiday home on the water. Importantly, she has a layout that makes her great as a family holiday home with rear lounge, a second lounge, four bedrooms, two bathrooms and plenty of space to enjoy the sun. Plus, you don’t have to find the money to upgrade the solar electrics as this has been done.

With all of this, Manhattan is very reasonably priced. Don’t wait, grab this opportunity for your family to make those special memories together on magical Lake Eildon.

The ultimate holiday home for many people is a holiday home on the water in beautiful peaceful surrounds where the family can make many special memories enjoying happy times together. The happy experiences that bond a family and the memories that last a lifetime.
Ultimate is an affordable houseboat holiday home which ticks many boxes. Ultimate was built in the 1980’s and is 18 feet in width and 45 feet in length plus duckboard. She has undergone many upgrades over her journey to keep her relevant and inviting.

The upgrades include new pontoons in 2024; yes, the all-important foundations are only two years old. The external cladding and eaves are composite aluminium, and the decks are mod wood. Together these provide a modern inviting appearance as well as requiring minimal maintenance.
The other important upgrade has been to the solar electrics with a OSX 3000watt Inverter; EnerSys Super Safe 12T190F House Batteries x 6 & 2 x Power AGM IPC110-12 House Batteries. These are fed by 7 solar panels and a wind generator.

Walk onboard Ultimate and a spacious front lounge welcomes you. Relax on the couch and take in the fabulous scenery or just watch the TV. The couch can double as a pullout bed when you have extras for the weekend. Next is the dining setting seating 6 comfortably. The kitchen is bright and modern with electric fridge/freezer and modern good appliances. Sit-up to the Servery/Breakfast Bar to enjoy a coffee and a chat.

Ultimate has two formal bedrooms each with queen sized beds. BR1 was converted from a bunk room, and this could be reversed if it suited your family needs. BR3 doubles as a rear lounge which makes a great space to relax and read a book quietly as you take in the views.
The double width tinted rear doors open onto a very usable rear deck. Importantly there is the hydraulic duckboard; this combined with the mod wood decking and motor box table provide room for deck chairs; open the sun awning, enjoy a drink or two and take in the magic view, especially at sunset.

Head up the internal stairs as it is time to enjoy the sun or a family BBQ. The theme of minimal maintenance and great appearance continues with composite aluminium used for the canopy and the side guardwalls. The stainless steel kitchenette with laundry continue this theme. Sip your favourite bubbles on a lounge whilst enjoying the sun and the magnificent view.

Ultimate is powered by a 50hp Mercury Outboard Motor with a Big-foot propellor. A big plus is a Bow Thruster was installed in 2024 to aide manoeuvrability. After the photo shoot there were no issues putting her back into her marina pen; went in easily.

Ultimate was slipped in 2024 August with a GMW CHIR issued. With the composite aluminium used for external cladding and the eaves plus the mod wood decking and new pontoons the major maintenance items have been minimized.

This all adds up to making Ultimate a great affordable holiday home on the water to begin the journey on magical Lake Eildon and start making those special memories before the kids get too much older.

Nutcracker would have to be one of the best presented houseboats, currently on Lake Eildon, that was originally built in the 1970’s.
Walk on board and how nice is this with the inviting fresh colours, lovely décor and tasteful furniture. It really demonstrates how beautifully an older vintage houseboat can be presented.
With smart thinking, it maximizes the space in the front lounge. The modern kitchen with breakfast bar or sit up for a chat and a coffee servery continues this theme very well. Importantly there is a 24/7 electric fridge/freezer.
Sit on the couch and enjoy the magnificent views on the front deck or just watch your favourite TV Shows (footy, cricket or tennis) on the new TV connected via Starlink.
Nutcracker has a great Master Bedroom with double walkaround bed with plenty of storage whilst enjoying a serene view over the Lake.
The second bedroom is for the kids with 2 single beds bunk. If there are extras there is the couch/double sofa bed in the lounge.
These are serviced by a bathroom with vanity plus shower with hip bath. The toilet is separate which many people prefer and is accessed from the rear deck.
For a houseboat of this vintage there is a sizable rear deck to enjoy some bubbles while watching a magnificent sunset. Jump in for a swim and there are two sets of water stairs to make it easy to get out of the water.
External stairs take you to the first storey level. The deck appears to be in very good condition. Enjoy the sunshine or a BBQ with the family on the quality outdoor dining setting und er the canvass sun canopy with the fly wire screens.

Technical details: Nutcracker is 16feet in width and 45feet in length. She was last slipped in 2024 October (18 months ago) with 3.5 years before you consider slipping her again. Nutcracker is powered by a Volvo Penta 4cylinder motor which has been operating without any issues. A pre-purchase mechanical inspection can verify this.

Significantly and most importantly the owners have spent a lot of very good money on the Solar Electrics to ensure you can enjoy the experience on Nutcracker. This involves a new Victron Energy Multi-Plus 3000w Inverter/Charger System; a new Victron Energy Smart Solar Charge Controller; new Lithium Batteries (300AH); and new Solar Panels (390w x 2). This is backed up by a modern Honda Generator with a remote start. Plenty of good power for a houseboat of this size.

Nutcracker is a beautifully presented entry level holiday home on the water of Lake Eildon. She is ready for you to walk on and start relaxing as all the big ticket items are taken care of. It is a long way from the renowned Raffles Hotel in Singapore, but relaxing on magical Lake Eildon sipping your favourite bubbles on the back deck of a holiday home on the water is where I would rather be.
Raffles presents as a lovely entry level holiday home for a family commencing the journey on magical Lake Eildon.
With the fresh paint work and the vibrant colours Raffles is certainly inviting. Walk onboard, she is bright and spacious with plenty of windows to let the magic into the houseboat.

To the front is the Helm and a fold out double bed. The concertina door provides privacy of a night time.
The middle section provides comfortable living area. Sit up to the breakfast bar and enjoy the views whilst dining or relax on the couch to watch the TV. This couch clicks down to become an double bed when you have extras for the weekend.
The kitchen with servery, cooktop, air fry oven, electric fridge, pantry and sink will enable you to prepare great meals to keep hungry mouths quiet. Then there is the BBQ on the front deck.

The main bedroom provides double ¾ walkaround bed with a rear view plus the side wardrobe and overhead cupboards. The bathroom has had an upgrade with new vanity and shower. The toilet has been converted from an external toilet to be part of the bathroom.
The rear deck on Raffles is a feature with plenty of room to enjoy the views whilst sipping your bubbles.
External stairs that are easy to walk up; certainly not a ladder; take you to the top deck which is in excellent condition. The camber on the roof enables the water to run off easily. Enjoy the sun or there is the steel frame to put up the canopy.

You might notice the Tender in the pictures. This is included in the Sale Price. It is a Toppercraft Dingy with a brand new Suzuki 10hp motor, new canopy, battery & bilge pump with solar panel and under floor fuel tank.
Raffles is powered by a 4-cylinder Mercruiser motor. The Solar Electrics have been upgraded with a Victron Energy Phoenix 2000watt Inverter, 7 large solar panels + 2; all feeding a 300AH Lithium House Battery. This is backed up by a Honda EU20i Generator.

Raffles was last out of the water in 2022 to service the hull. There are photos on file of underneath the houseboat.

Freestyle presents as a great holiday home for a family commencing the journey on magical Lake Eildon.

Firstly, with the external cladding and eaves of composite aluminium, she is bright and inviting.
Then for a family it has a very good layout with spaces for each generation to relax in.
The large windows in the front lounge make sitting up to the dining table a real pleasure as you take in the magnificent scenery. The kitchen is bright and well appointed, importantly with the Hisense Fridge/Freezer.
The second recreational space is the rear lounge with the double width rear doors embracing the rear deck and duckboard. The kids can watch the Tele or everyone is jumping into the water for a splash and swim or you might just sit back and take in the view.

Another plus for a family on Freestyle is the bedrooms and bathroom. Three bedrooms with a ¾ walkaround bed in the Master which has direct access to the bathroom. The second bedroom has a double bed for older children or guests. Then there is the bunkroom for the kids with three single beds. The bathroom is not tiny with plenty of room and the shower encompasses a hip bath for the kids.
