Auto Women Auto Women was established in 2022 by the Motor Trades Association of Queensland.

It works to provide a supportive environment for women working across the automotive industry to network and grow. Our purpose is to:

- Raise the profile of women in the automotive industry
- Advocate for women in the automotive industry on key issues to government
- Promote career opportunities for women and the advantages of diversity to employers
- Hold virtual and in-person networking and social events that educate, connect and - support women
- Be led by a diverse mentor team
- Provide career enhancement courses and scholarships

Auto Women is proud to announce a new partnership with Performastery Leadership Facilitation, introducing dedicated leadership pathways designed specifically for women working in automotive and other traditionally male-dominated industries.

Through two flagship programs, women can access targeted professional development tailored to their individual needs and leadership goals. Each program includes personalised coaching to help participants build their capabilities, grow their confidence and progress at every stage of their leadership journey.

✨ Leaders Unleashed: Sprint Hurdles
A 16-week program for emerging leaders, supervisors and professionals stepping into leadership for the first time, focusing on leadership confidence, communication, emotional intelligence and practical people leadership skills.

🚀 Leaders Unleashed: Ascension
An 11-week program for experienced leaders looking to increase their impact and prepare for more senior strategic or executive-level roles, with a focus on executive influence, strategic leadership and decision-making.

Supporting women working in automotive means doing more than encouraging them to enter the industry. We need to support them to stay, grow and lead.

By investing in women's leadership development, we're helping strengthen the pipeline of capable women leaders and build a more diverse future for automotive.

From fleet management and project management to running a thriving automotive business in regional Queensland - Melinda Bossley’s journey into automotive has taken a few unexpected turns!

Today, Melinda is co-owner of Emu Park Automotive and Tyre Service, where she works alongside her husband Matt to build a business that is about much more than keeping cars on the road.

For Melinda, it’s about people.

It’s about creating a workplace where people want to come to work, investing in the right people and giving them the opportunity to learn and grow. It’s about building genuine relationships with customers and being part of the community they serve.

And her impact doesn’t stop at the workshop doors.

As MTA Queensland’s Central Queensland representative on the Board, Melinda is using her experience to advocate for regional automotive businesses and ensure their voices are heard.

Her own path has taught her that you don’t need to follow a traditional route to find your place in automotive - you just need to be willing to learn, back yourself and give it a go.

“If I could give my younger self any advice, it would be just to go for it. Don’t let anything hold you back.”

From the big blue shed in Emu Park to the MTA Queensland Boardroom, Melinda is showing just how many different ways there are to make an impact in automotive.
