Truck Driver / Farm Hand (Full-Time)
McKees Garage & Engineering – Echuca / Elmore
McKees Garage & Engineering is seeking a motivated and reliable Truck Driver / Farm Hand to join our team. This is a full-time position for the right applicant and offers a diverse, hands-on role for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work independently while also contributing to a close-knit team.
About the Role
This position involves transporting agricultural machinery and equipment between our Echuca and Elmore workshops, customers, and suppliers. Some loads will be “oversize”, so experience with or a willingness to learn oversize transport requirements is highly regarded.
In addition to transport duties, you will assist with general farming operations throughout the year, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety in their work.
Occasional overnight stays in the truck will be required.
Key Responsibilities
* Transport agricultural machinery and equipment safely and professionally.
* Load, secure and unload machinery, including oversize loads where required.
* Deliver machinery between customers, suppliers, and our Echuca and Elmore workshops.
* Liaise professionally with customers and our Service and Sales departments regarding machine pick-up and delivery schedules.
* Schedule and coordinate routine servicing and maintenance of trucks and trailers.
* Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain transport records.
* Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and road transport regulations.
* Assist with general farm operations, including:
* Crop spraying
* Sowing
* Harvest operations
* Hay carting
* General farm maintenance and support.
About You
The successful applicant will have:
* A strong work ethic and a genuine "can do" attitude.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent McKees Garage & Engineering professionally.
* Sound mechanical knowledge, with the ability to identify maintenance requirements and carry out basic servicing tasks.
* Experience operating agricultural machinery (preferred).
* Experience driving heavy vehicles.
* The ability to work independently, manage changing priorities and work as part of a team.
* A commitment to safe work practices.
* Flexibility to work seasonal hours and undertake occasional overnight trips.
Essential Requirements
* Minimum HC (Heavy Combination) Truck Licence.
* Clean driving record.
* Commitment to workplace health and safety.
* Ability to pass pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing if required.
Highly Regarded
* MC Licence.
* Experience with oversize transport.
* Forklift licence.
* Chemical User Accreditation (ChemCert or equivalent).
* Agricultural machinery or farming experience.
