MotoShock NT MotoShock Suspension Services provides professional motorcycle suspension servicing in Darwin NT. I’m quality-focused in how I work.

We specialise in dirt bike shock and fork servicing, vacuum bleeding, oil replacement, nitrogen charging, and performance suspension tuning. I’ve been working on dirt bike suspension since 2013, starting with my own bikes and learning through real riding, testing and servicing. Over the years I’ve owned and worked on around 10 different dirt bikes and gained hands-on experience with WP, KYB and Showa suspension. My background is engineering and QA/QC: Civil Engineering graduate, Advanced Diploma in Engineering (Australia / NOOSR assessed), and 17 years as a multi-discipline QA/QC Inspector in oil & gas and construction. That experience shapes my workshop process—cleanliness, correct tools, careful measuring, correct torque, and doing the job properly. Based in Durack (Darwin NT), servicing riders within ~100 km radius. Typical turnaround 2–3 days (parts availability depending). Booking via Messenger preferred so I can confirm details and order parts before drop-off.

Checking the reservoir pressure reading before it's 1st rebuilt. 70 hours of riding, the pressure drops significantly. The lost in pressure in the nitrogen charging tool will only drop around 10 psi. Minimum pressure should be 145 psi.

What you’re seeing here isn’t just “air” — it’s shock oil telling a story.

2022 KTM 350SXF (53 hrs) vs 2017 YZ250X (70+ hrs):
When the shock is opened, pressure drops fast and dissolved gas comes out of the oil (like opening a fizzy drink). If the oil has been cavitating or foaming during riding, you’ll see even more bubbles.

The YZ shock also measured 83 psi nitrogen, which can reduce backpressure and make cavitation/foaming easier, especially in fast chop and when hot.

Common reasons for more bubbles:
• more hours + heat cycles (oil shear + additives used up)
• low nitrogen charge (earlier cavitation)
• contamination/wear particles
• internal wear (piston band, seal head, bushings)
• riding conditions (enduro heat soak vs short moto sessions)

Yes, the nitrogen pressure in the reservoir get
drops overtime.

Bottom line: fresh oil + correct gas pressure + proper bleeding = more consistent damping and longer component life.
