🏆 A proud day for the team at Creative Custom Cars! 🏆

Our fully restored Auscar turned plenty of heads at this year’s Flinders Motoring Heritage Show, taking home the Chairman’s Award. An honour we’re incredibly proud of.

This unique piece of Australian motoring history has been a true labour of love with countless hours of craftsmanship, problem solving, and attention to every detail to restore it in a way that honours and represents the Auscar’s heritage and history. Seeing it recognised among such an outstanding field of vehicles makes all the hard work worthwhile.

We’re passionate about preserving the cars that helped shape our automotive story, and the Auscar is one we’re proud to have brought back to life.

A huge thank you to the organisers, judges, and everyone who stopped for a look and shared a chat on the day. And a special thank you to the owners, Simon and Anna, for trusting us with the opportunity to carry out this incredible work and be part of preserving such an important piece of Australian motoring history.

If you have a restoration or custom project you’d like to discuss, our team is always here to help.

Big weekend for the Creative Custom Cars crew 🔥

We hit not one, but TWO great shows — the Rye Car & Bike show and the Flinders Motoring Heritage show — a great mix of cars, people, and proper car culture.

Best part of it all…🏆 Chairman’s Award was awarded to Simon and Anna’s Auscar.

A car that does the talking without needing to shout — right stance, right detail, built properly. We were grateful and proud to see it recognised at Flinders Motoring Heritage show.

Plenty of good conversations, familiar faces, and a few new ones along the way. That’s what it’s about.

Just another day in the workshop at Creative Custom Cars… and the lineup this week is something special. 🚗✨

From classics getting their annual service to custom builds and a few interesting projects in between — no two days are the same and that’s exactly how we like it.

Every car that rolls through the doors has its own story, and we love being part of keeping them running, driving and turning heads.

Take a quick look around the workshop in today’s video.

🚗✨ Reviving a Classic: The 1934 Riley Imp!

We’re excited to share the story of this remarkable 1934 Riley Imp, a true piece of automotive history that has been in the Riley family since day one! This beauty even made the journey to Australia with the family and continues to be cherished today. ❤️

After spending a number of years in storage, it was time for her to hit the road again and enjoy some motoring adventures! Our mission? To ensure she’s fit for the journey ahead.
We kicked things off by draining all the old fluids and replacing them with fresh ones. Next, we removed the wheels for a thorough inspection, examination and adjustment of the brake components. We inflated the tyres to ensure optimal performance.
A new battery was installed, and we tuned the carburettors and adjusted the timing for that perfect drive. After a few more minor repairs and the addition of a full tank of fuel, it was time for an extensive test drive! 🚙
She passed with flying colors, ready for the family to take her back out on the road and create new memories. Here’s to many more miles of enjoyment with the Riley Imp! 🥳✨

Factory Manual 302 Cobra – Car #32
Every now and then, a build rolls into the workshop with a story that stops you in your tracks. This Factory Manual 302 Cobra, Car #32, is one of those machines.
She’s not just a car—she’s a survivor of the one and only 1994 Australian Cannonball Run, a 3,755km public road race from Darwin to Uluru and back. Out of 118 starters, this Cobra charged her way to 6th outright, carrying four people the entire race and reaching speeds up to 272 km/h. To top it off, the owner/driver at the time was also the event caterer. Only in Australia.
With the Cannonball Run never to be repeated, this car has become a piece of motorsport folklore.
Fast forward to today: Alec, the new custodian, has been hands on every step of the way, making sure this Cobra comes back exactly as she ran in ’94. After sitting untouched since 1994, waking her up has been a careful, methodical process—camera scoping the bores, checking for corrosion, obtaining oil pressure, flushing the cooling system, replacing every fluid, and giving the suspension and wiring the overhaul they deserved. The original Cannonball livery is being faithfully recreated, and she’s getting close to firing up and rolling out once again.
Keep your eyes peeled—this iconic Cobra will soon be turning heads at shows and out on the road once again.

🚗✨ Project Update: 1930 Wolseley 10hp ✨🚗
The first hurdle with the 1930 Wolseley was a simple one… fit the driver 😄
Simon stands well over 6 foot, and early cars weren’t exactly designed with long legs in mind. That meant some serious reworking of the body to create enough room in the narrow footwell so the pedals could actually be used comfortably.
With that challenge behind us, Paul has been hard at work fabricating a new bonnet and refining the rear of the car, shaping those elegant lines that really define the Wolseley’s character.
Next came the big one — getting this old girl back on the road after more than 30 years of sitting idle. Although the car had been mocked up, it had never been driven, so plenty of components needed re-engineering from the ground up. The supercharged engine, running a homemade manifold, brought its own set of challenges, including fuel pooling that could lead to some dangerous and nasty backfires. Safety always comes first.
The suspension was another area needing attention, having been assembled years ago with very little consideration for safety. After plenty of careful work, the moment finally came — the Wolseley went out for its first test drive, and we managed to capture some great moments along the way.
The non-synchronised 3-speed gearbox is certainly a challenge to drive, so that may be the next evolution for this little beauty… the trick will be improving drivability while keeping everything true to its 1930s roots.
Keep a look out for more progress to come 👀

Cleaning up an old repair from a previous owner on this Porsche 993 👌

First step was stripping things back properly — removing components including the rear window and taking everything back to bare metal. From there it’s all about doing it right: metal-finishing the repairs, careful paint preparation, then repainting to factory-level standards.

A small paint bubble was spotted around the window aperture. Once stripped back, we found light rust caused by a previous window fitment where abrasive tools had removed the paint and the exposed steel was never treated.

⚠️ Worth noting: if you’re having a windscreen or rear window replaced, always make sure any accidental paint damage is properly protected — bare steel won’t forgive shortcuts.

This one’s heading off to a wedding in a couple of weeks… and she’ll be looking the part ✨🚗

As the year winds down and the tools get put away (briefly 😄), we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who’s been part of the Creative Custom Cars journey this year.

From full builds and coachbuilt panels to servicing, fettling and the “while you’re in there…” jobs — it’s been another big year of keeping special cars on the road and making good ones even better.

We’re grateful to our customers who trust us with their pride and joy, the suppliers who keep parts turning up when we need them, and the mates who drop in just to talk cars (and usually stay longer than planned).

We’ll be taking a short break over Christmas to recharge the batteries, then it’s straight back into it with plenty of exciting projects lined up for the new year.

From all of us at Creative Custom Cars, we wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a safe, happy New Year.
See you in the workshop in 2026 🎄🔧🚗
