It looks like Brother Westy's first official game of touch footy is going to be interesting.
All I know is that I'm playing for the green bulls.
I have no idea who my teammates are.
Or who is playing for the black bulls.
But what I do know is that there's 6 teams.
And only 4 can play finals.
While playing up to 16 games this summer.
And I will be fitter and stronger in the last 8 games after Christmas than I am now.
I seem to do sport in around 10 year gaps.
As I played footy from 16yo against men.
I played a year of Rugby League in Hobart.
Moved to Sydney looking for paid work at 24yo.
Come back to Tassie at 26yo realizing I had issues and started this business.
Never went to training at the bulls as I thought that I wouldn't ever get a game there.
So I focused on my car wash and doing my best to earn a living.
Got taken advantage of a few days free labor for a struggling local detailer that's now out of business.
As a result of that treatment or what they called it 'Work Experience' even though I'm a skilled detailer, I got offered a job in Cooee with an old mate from school as a detailer/car yard assistant.
Got roped into going to training at South Burnie as a 36yo.
Got frustrated there as earning a game there is like getting a game at the bulls and didn't think I was going to get a game there either.
So rugby at the emus came calling, or should I say someone made a call for me and the rest is history.
And I retired from rugby as a 40yo in 2016.
I'm turning 50 next month, so these 10 year gaps are a thing for me regarding playing sport.
