Here at Weigh Forward we love old school caravan's. Many owners of older vans think they will be ok. Be mindful the safety aspect stays the same and the legal side is just as important as a new van. Older caravan's, trailer's and horsefloat payloads are often smaller than newer trailers. Over the years trailers have multiple owners and each owner adds a few modifications and accessories. TARE weights and PAYLOADS don't match VIN plates which can easily mislead the owner.

It's not just big caravan's that must be careful with weights. Camper trailers, single axle caravan's, bike trailers and box trailers all have ATM's and payloads that must not be forgotten about.

Our tiny advertising trailer has been weighed.... loaded up and will be heading south for a little holiday. Trailer on a trailer is something not always seen however keep an eye out for it.

Photos below of a caravan we weighed with a cool door step. Factory fitted, sturdy and great engineering. Caravan steps are often a real problem with access and this brand has finally given an option that ticks many boxes.

Not only does Weigh Forward weigh caravan's and motorhome's. We weigh plant trailers, equipment and everything in between. We see lots of mini excavators, mower trailers, dog wash trailers etc over legal weight without owners knowing. Be mindful small trailers have weight limits and are often travelling overweight with no insurance. If in doubt check your trailer with the experts at Weighforward and be confident you understand this important topic.

Tasmanian owned and operated Weigh Forward Mobile Caravan and Vehicle Weighing has been weighing lots of single axle hybrid caravan's lately. I must admit I do like this style of caravan however we are seeing lots with very small payloads often putting them on or over legal limits. Side weights play an important part in gravity and trailer sway and many owners don't consider this when loading. Hybrid caravan's are often very heavy on the left hand side with electric awnings, outside pantries, big slide out fridge/freezers and they often TARE at 2550kg. With a 3000kg ATM it only leaves a PAYLOADS of 450kg. The earlier models only have 2750kg to 2850kg ATM's making loading even more tricky.
