Effective immediately, registration fees for light vehicles will be frozen at their current rate until 1 July 2026.
This means NO REGO FEE INCREASE until 1 July 2026!
Light vehicles are vehicles 4.5 tonnes (GVM) or less and include cars, 4WD, mini vans, motorcycles and trailers.

Starting 1 December 2024, light trailers (less than 750 kilograms) can be registered for a maximum of three years, instead of having to do so every year.
People still have the option to renew their trailer for lesser periods if preferred.
Light trailers include all trailers 750 kg and less e.g. box and boat trailers.

From 1 January 2025 until 30 June 2025, customers with an open NT licence can apply to receive a free licence for a year either through:
- Renewing their current licence which is expiring between 1 January and 30 June 2025.
- Extending their existing licence for a further 12 months.
- When they are obtaining a new open NT driver licence e.g. moving from a provisional or interim licence to an open licence or transferring their interstate licence to an open NT licence.
