We're honoured, and a bit lost for words, to share that Dalby Radiator Works has been named National Franchise of the Year at the Natrad Radiators & Auto Air conference in Sydney. We also took home Best in State for the fourth year running.

It's the crew on the tools, pressure testing, recoring, soldering and chasing leaks nobody else could find. It's the crew in the office, answering the phones, quoting jobs, booking freight and keeping a busy workshop running smoothly. One doesn't work without the other, and customers can tell.

Awards are a scoreboard for what happens every single day. Every honest "you don't need a new one" conversation, every job packed carefully and sent back out on time, every customer who got a straight answer instead of a runaround. That's all down to the people here.

To our team, in the workshop and in the office, thank you. This one is yours.

And to every customer who's backed a regional workshop, whether you drove in or freighted it from the other side of the country, thank you.

Nobody rings us about their hoses. They ring about the radiator, and by the time it's on the bench, the hoses sitting right next to it are usually just as tired.

Makes sense when you think about it. The radiator and the hoses bolted to it go on at the same time and cook in the same heat for the same however-many years. One failing is rarely a coincidence, it's usually just whichever part let go first.

A tired hose left in place can undo a brand new radiator in an afternoon if it lets go.

Radiator, hoses, overflow bottle, fresh coolant, sorted in one trip instead of three separate call outs over the next year.

Freighting your radiator to a town you've never been to sounds risky. For us, it's just Tuesday.

A job comes off the truck, gets logged in, inspected and pressure tested, repaired or recored, tested again, then packed up and sent straight back out. Same process whether it drove in the door or arrived on a pallet from three states away.

The bit people worry about is whether it'll survive the trip there and back in one piece. Fair question. Honest answer is we've been strapping radiators onto freight trucks since long before anyone could track a parcel from their phone. It's not new to us, it just doesn't happen in front of you.

Spring doesn't ease you into an Australian summer. It skips straight to it.

Your radiator's had an easy few months, mild mornings, short trips, nothing pushing it hard. That's exactly why problems that built up over winter don't show themselves until the heat does. This job came in older than our business. By 38 years.

A 1914 Willys Overland, the same Willys name that would go on to build Jeeps for the military decades later, in for a full cooling system refurb.

Cars from this era are a different job entirely. There's no off the shelf replacement part for something like this, and a lot of vehicles from that period didn't even run a water pump, relying on natural convection to keep the water moving. If the radiator wasn't right, the engine simply cooked.

Getting this one back to spec meant building it the way it would have been done in 1914, brass, copper and a lot of hand soldering, not anything you bolt in from a shelf.

Jobs like this are exactly why decades of experience matter. You can't look this up in a parts catalogue.

We've never met this customer. Wouldn't pick them out of a line-up if we tried. This is their second job with us, and neither one has involved them setting foot in Dalby.

Their radiator came in on a freight truck like a hundred others that roll through our door every year. We inspected it, sorted out what it actually needed, did the job, pressure tested it, and sent it straight back out on the same freight line it arrived on.

That's the whole relationship, and it's still a real one. A phone call to talk through what's wrong, trusting us to freight their gear to a workshop they've never set foot in, and getting it back done properly. That's how the trust gets built, not a handshake or a showroom visit.

That's honestly how most of our interstate relationships start. Not being near Dalby was never the obstacle people assume it is.

A dealer quote for a genuine generator radiator will make your eyes water, and that's before you hear the lead time.

This one was a Volvo generator needing a new radiator. Instead of chasing down a genuine replacement, we built one in brass and copper, made to fit, often for half the price.

Same goes for whatever's sitting in your shed or on site. Pumps, gensets, older machinery the manufacturer doesn't stock parts for anymore, we can usually build it rather than you having to chase it down.
