🚗 A Huge Milestone for Nathan! 🎉

A massive congratulations to Nathan, who has successfully passed his local licence assessment with the support of our instructor Christian!

Nathan was absolutely over the moon with his achievement, and rightly so! 😊 He has worked hard throughout his driving journey and, using specialised vehicle modifications, has developed the skills and confidence to achieve this fantastic result.

His new licence will give Nathan the independence to get to the important places he needs to go around his local area - making this milestone about so much more than simply passing an assessment.

It was lovely to celebrate the moment with Nathan and his wife Jess, and we couldn't be prouder of him. Well done, Nathan! 👏🚗

🚐 Innovation in Action! 🎉

On Friday, our instructor Christian was part of an exciting assessment day using the Total Ability High Level Van - a fantastic opportunity to showcase some of the latest adaptive driving technology available.

Working alongside Paul Crake from Total Ability and OT Driving Assessor Lewis Nagle, the team supported client Luke through the day, resulting in a great outcome! 👏

In this video, Luke is driving using a Mini Wheel for steering and the Joystick to control the accelerator and brake. It's incredible to see how specialised vehicle modifications can create new opportunities for people to achieve driving independence.

We're incredibly grateful to Total Ability for providing access to this remarkable vehicle and for the opportunity to work collaboratively in helping people find the right driving solutions.

Driving independence looks different for everyone, and it's exciting to see innovative technology continuing to expand what's possible. 🚗

🚗 Driving Important Conversations Forward

Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome our local federal MP Gregg - Labor for Deakin and Richard Farr - Labor for Croydon to our office.

After spending time chatting with our team, Matt and Richard joined senior instructors Gabriel and Christian to learn about and experience driving with some of the many specialised vehicle modifications we have available across our fleet! 🚗

We then had a valuable conversation about the NDIS: the positive outcomes it creates, the challenges faced by participants and providers, and how we can continue working to improve a system that delivers meaningful, lasting outcomes in the best possible way.

A sincere thank you to Matt and Richard for their generous time, genuine interest and willingness to listen and engage with our team. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to share what we do and the outcomes we work so hard to achieve.

🔧 Modification Monday: Over Ring Accelerator (O-Ring) 🚗

The Over Ring Accelerator, AKA the O-Ring, allows drivers to accelerate while keeping both hands on the steering wheel.

By applying gentle, consistent pressure to the O-Ring, drivers can achieve smooth, natural acceleration with excellent control, making precise driving manoeuvres easier and more comfortable. The O-Ring is fitted to the vehicle's original steering wheel without interfering with the airbag and is typically paired with a hand-operated brake lever.

Suitable for (not limited to):
• Lower limb amputation
• Spinal cord injuries
• Paraplegia
• Neurological conditions affecting lower limb function
• Other conditions that prevent the safe use of foot pedals

The O-Ring is just one of the many specialised vehicle modifications available throughout our fleet, helping drivers achieve greater confidence, independence, and control on the road.
