Sometimes you just have to shake your head in disbelief , a customer rang and wanted to buy a " factory Panoramic sunroof "for his 2025 American duel cab ute . I explained that it would not be something we would even contemplating doing , firstly the actual turret in his ute would be just a plain roof with no hole . I tried to explain that a Ute with a factory sunroof would have had it's turret stamped during the ute being built in frame only condition . Then I pointed out that the actual cab area would have extra reinforcing also fitted internally and welded in on the assembly , you just can't cut a huge hole in a roof without special engineering to keep the roof from twisting etc . He then said that his non sunroof ute would have had all that already in place and he started to tell me it was a straight forward job and could be done . I tried in vain to explain that after seeing the inside of thousands of cars across almost every single car brand on earth over the last 60 plus years that I knew what I was talking about . He then said he would find someone else who could help and hung up . Who would you believe a stubborn unknowing owner or someone with over 60 years experience .

Just have laugh at prices charged by dealers for a piece of plastic , ordered a couple of guides for a customers sunroof roller shade . Each guide was $79.00 EACH . see photos .

I need to keep reminding customers that we are no longer fitting any Sunroofs , as production stopped 6 years ago we had by then transitioned to repairs only . We are busier now with repairs than we ever were with installations as there are so many factory sunroofs that have problems , we make more money from less time spent and even less risk . If you are desparate , a place at Ormeau might be fitting second hand roofs , you supply the second hand roof and they will fit it . Then you need to take it to a motor trimmer to install the new roof lining . Please note they are not an Authorised installer like we are so any risk is your responsibility. When you see this video please remember there are no seats no dashboard no centre console or windscreen in the car , when we have to remove the sunroof to do a repair we don't have the luxury of all that space or a robotic arm to lift it in and out . To remove the roof is in most cases very labor intensive , and you have to add curtain airbags will be along the side making things very risky . Just posted this on our other Facebook site but thought worth repeating here : You just can't please some people , a phone call at 5.45 pm today . Customer tells me his 30 year old Honda sunroof stopped working . He kept telling me it was absolute show piece in original condition , first I suggested it may just need lubrication but then he informs me he is in Sydney and were in Brisbane . I did the right thing and gave him some names of people in Sydney who might have been able to help him , then he tells me oh they won't answer their phones . I tried to explain that most places doing sunroof work would most likely not be open at this time due to lack of natural light , I explained that sunroofs are fairly intricate things and you need good natural light to see what is happening to them which is why these places would close before darkness . Suddenly he gets stroppy going off that his car was perfect and then hung up on me . I just dont understand why people behave like that , I did my best to help and get cut off . Grrr "
