Massive weekend in Sydney for Jamboree 2021

We headed down with Trent Brimble’s Vl to see if we could get it into the 7’s after a successful run at a recent 1/8 mile event. With the car still being a relatively fresh build we were confident with a bit more track time we’d get it sorted.

The new track at WSID did not disappoint, the guys down there have the track prep on point, it was so consistent it allowed me to focus on just making the car quicker each run rather than having to worry about weather the track was going to take the power or not.

First run on the Friday test day the car ran a PB of 8.27@134mph off it early so we could check the data. Things were looking very promising with a 1.19 60ft. We made a few small changes to the front half of the tune up a headed out again and the Vl did not disappoint. Pb’s in every part of the track we dropped over .5 of a second off the cars Pb with a 7.70@177mph. Not only did we tick off the 7 second pass but we also managed a 4.97 to half.

Saturday morning we sent the car out with the same tune up in it for first round of qualifying. It backed up its previous nights performance with a 7.74@176mph.

With a solid qualifying pass in the bag Trent was keen for me to turn it up, with a couple of minor tweaks we once again Pb’d in every sector Of the track 1.175 60ft 4.96@144 and a 7.67@179mph.

For the rest of the day I made small changes to the tune up while Trent did his job and won all three rounds of racing with a couple more pb’s including going 180mph.

Both the car and the whole team crushed it for the weekend, watching Trent’s progression behind the wheel has been both impressive and great to be a part of, well done mate

What a weekend at Street Machine Drag Challenge Weekend, tuning three cars all with different ecu’s was definitely a struggle at times.

Mark’s Xw falcon finished second outright after a successful first and second day we struggled with the hot conditions and getting the tune sorted till late on the third day once the track had gone away. This was Marks 4th drag challenge even and as always the car was flawless and did the street driving with ease. There may be a couple of faster Street cars in Qld but you’ll be hard pressed finding a 7 second car that gets driven as often as this one

Trent Brimble’s Vl finished third outright, this car is a completely new build that was only recently completed and what’s more the only testing that was done prior to the event was his three licensing passes and then two full passes only a matter of weeks ago. With a pb on Sunday of 8.41@159mph and going 169mph on another pass on a hot and torn up track we can’t wait to see what 2021 brings for this car.

And finally Jamie’s Vh finished 9th outright. While this car competed in this event last year the car has had a new engine and turbo combo fitted. With the car only being finished the day before the event we went into the weekend blind with the untested combo. The new car blues plagued our first two days and even after getting our heads around the new combo we struggled with the track conditions and getting it off the line. While we don’t have a great timeslip to reflect the new combo 167mph out the back door is showing the alloy block 6 litre making plenty of power. With a previous best of 8.51@158mph I’m sure it won’t take Jamie long to get this thing sorted out in the new year.

I’d like to personally congratulate the three drivers and all the crew from the weekend I couldn’t ask for a better bunch of guys to do these events with. I’m looking forward to next year once the weather cools down and heading back to the track with all three cars to see what they can do.

After a long break from Roll Racing with the white Next Up Evo, we’ve finally started to have parts arrive to get the ball rolling for the new setup. We have found the limit of the mighty 4G64 Magna block, so it was time for a change.

Thanks to the boys from Turbotech QLD for the Gen 2 Gtx47.

We had a great night at Willowbank Friday night with Jamie’s Ls Turbo Vh. Running three consecutive Pb’s slowly chipping away at his 60ft times Jamie ended the night with an impressive 8.51@159mph. Retaining a stock rotating assembly with only the addition of rod bolts we couldn’t be happily with the results.
