What's worse than getting down and dirty with muddy, dirty 4WDs? Trying to troubleshoot an ECU issue that's being a total party pooper and won't let the thing start up. We thought we were in the clear after swapping out the motor for a shiny new turbo motor with all the bells and whistles, but boy were we wrong. It all started to go downhill when we pulled out the old motor and found some dodgy wiring - par for the course with DIY 4WD projects, right? At some point, the vehicle had some wiring issues that were fixed by bypassing relays and triggers, but even after going back to the original wiring, the problems persisted. Further digging revealed that the previous owner had wired the ignition and coils through not one, but two relays in series - because who needs simplicity, right? One relay was wired up correctly, but the other one, not so much. And to top it all off, the main ECU power was being pulled from the windshield washer sprayer stalk in the cabin - because why not? We also found six inline terminals that had blown and been refitted - you'd think that after the first fuse blew, someone would've raised an eyebrow. This whole ordeal has been a months-long drama fest, but luckily, the customer's been super chill about it. Usually, when we come across a vehicle with this many issues, we recommend a complete rewire by a qualified electrician, because let's be real, we're not exactly equipped to deal with wiring malfunctions. Only zap zap ⚡️ 👨🏻‍🏭
