🚗 Workshop Update – Closed From This Afternoon Until Monday 🚗

From close of business today, the Pure Automotive team will be out of the workshop and heading to Melbourne for the Australian Auto Aftermarket Expo.

Over the next few days, we’ll be focusing on:
🔹 Hands-on technical training
🔹 Learning about the latest automotive technology and equipment
🔹 Connecting with industry leaders and suppliers
🔹 Building new skills to continue improving our workshop and services

The automotive industry is changing faster than ever, and keeping up with new systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures is essential to delivering the level of service our customers expect.

🔧 What happened?
Worn, carbon-loaded spark plugs force the ignition coils to work overtime just to fire. Over time, that extra strain leads to overheating… and eventually coil pack failure.

🚗 Not All “Services” Are Created Equal…

Purpose: Highlight the risks of improper servicing and the value of professional workmanship.

Key Message:
This vehicle came in for a routine service—but what we found tells a story we see all too often 👇

🔍 Cabin filter? Completely clogged and overdue (have a look at that difference 👀)

🔧 Oil leak diagnosis:
- Oil was travelling through the V of the engine and down the front
- At first glance, it looked like a crank seal issue (which had previously been replaced)
- But after a proper inspection, we found the real cause 👇
➡️ The oil filter housing O-ring had been installed incorrectly

This led to oil leaking and spreading across the engine, making the problem look much worse than it actually was.

We corrected the issue, cleaned everything down, and made sure it was sealed up properly ✅

Best Practices:
Servicing your car properly means:
✔️ Installing components correctly the first time
✔️ Understanding how systems interact (not just swapping parts)
✔️ Taking the time to inspect, not just replace

Common Challenges:
DIY or rushed servicing can lead to:

🚗 One of the Wildest Failures We’ve Ever Seen…

A 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe came into the workshop with an engine light on and some seriously harsh shifting.

First impression?
Something wasn’t right. On the test drive, every gear change felt aggressive—and even selecting a gear was rough.

So we dug deeper.

What we discovered was next level.

The battery had leaked acid… and the damage didn’t just stay put. Over time, that corrosion spread and literally ate through the transmission cover, making its way into the gearbox valve body.

Yep—battery acid caused internal transmission failure.

Safe to say, this is NOT something we see every day.

The outcome?
Unfortunately, the damage was too severe—the transmission had to be condemned.

Why this matters:
This is a perfect example of how something that seems unrelated can turn into a major issue. Battery leaks are rare—but when they happen, the damage can go much further than expected.

It’s exactly why thorough inspections matter. Catching something early can be the difference between a minor fix and a major repair.

🚗 Skoda Octavia – Intake & Cooling System Repairs 🔧

This Skoda Octavia came in with an engine warning light and clear signs of oil contamination in the cooling system—something that needs prompt attention to avoid bigger issues down the track.

After a full diagnostic inspection, we identified a fault with the intake runner flap inside the intake manifold, along with issues within the cooling and oil system.

✅ What we did:
• Replaced the intake manifold with a new genuine unit
• Replaced oil cooler gaskets and oil filter housing gasket
• Replaced radiator
• Replaced thermostat (located along the chain under the intake manifold) as a preventative measure
• Inspected all cooling system hoses to ensure no damage from oil contamination — all checked out in good condition

All repairs were carried out with a focus on long-term reliability and performance—using quality parts and doing the job properly the first time.

💡 Why this matters:
Oil contamination and cooling system faults can quickly escalate if left unchecked. Taking the extra step to inspect components like hoses and replace critical parts ensures the system is clean, reliable, and built to last.

If your car’s showing warning lights or something doesn’t feel right, it’s always best to get it checked sooner rather than later 👍
