Caravanning & Camping Fails! 🙉

Things you swore you wouldn’t do again on another trip… 😂

• Buy another gadget you don't need
• Forgetting staples like milk, bread, the BBQ, extension cord
• Backing the caravan into a fence, tree or bollard
• Leaving vents open when it rains

And yet… there are so many other fails we are all guilty of!

What’s your biggest caravanning/camping fail? Be honest — we won’t judge and feel free to tag someone who you know that battles with camping! 👇🤣

‼ Aurora Australis Alert ‼

Mother Nature might just have something spectacular in store for us tonight! 🤩✨

The Aurora Australis (Southern Lights) is expected to be visible across parts of southern WA tonight, with viewing around Albany predicted from approximately 6:17pm AWST.

And guess what? We're only 55km east of Albany here at Cheynes Beach! 👀💜

📸 Keen to try your luck?
🌅 Find a spot with a clear view of the southern horizon.
🌑 Get away from bright lights where possible.
📱 Keep your camera handy — your phone may capture colours that are difficult to see with the naked eye.

Aurora sightings are never guaranteed, and visibility will depend on cloud cover and how active the aurora is — but it's certainly worth keeping an eye on the skies!

If you're lucky enough to capture the Southern Lights over C

Cheynes Beach tonight, we'd LOVE to see your photos! Drop them in the comments below. 👇📸

The art of doing absolutely nothing...

Your weekend itinerary called… it has absolutely nothing planned. ☕🌿

Sometimes the best holidays are the ones where you slow down, put your feet up and let the world carry on without you for a little while.

At Cheynes Beach, a good day can be as simple as a cuppa, a comfy chair and nowhere in particular to be.

So tell us — how do you spend a lazy camping day when you're out here at Cheynes Beach? Reading, napping, beach walks, bird watching, or simply relaxing in the camp chair with a cold bevvie?

Birdwatching is a very popular attraction here at Cheynes Beach 🦅🌿

With the park surrounded by bushland, native vegetation and national park, there’s plenty of habitat for birdlife — and you never quite know what you might spot. The best part? You don’t necessarily need to go anywhere special. Sometimes the best birdwatching starts right outside your caravan, cabin or campsite. 🏕️

We have an abundance of birds that are high on the bird watching list with the “big three” regularly being heard and seen in and around the park. The big three are the noisy scrubbird, the western whipbird and the western bristlebird. You will also find emu wrens, Carnaby’s cockatoos, ospreys, western rosellas and many more,

📸 Got a great bird photo from around Cheynes Beach? We’d love to see it! Tag us or send it to our email - [email protected] 📩

So, if you're a bird watcher, nature lover or just a keen photographer — make sure you add Cheynes Beach to your travel list. 💚 👀🔭

It is a BEAUTIFUL day out here at Cheynes today! With the next 3 days looking much the same. Nothing but sunshine and no wind! 🏖 ☀️

We have a fully stocked lolly bar and there are plenty of treasures to be found on the beach after last week's deluge. These urchins and paper nautilis were found right in front of the park down in the cove. 🐙 🐠 🦜

Pack the car/kids/dogs and all the beach gear and get down to Cheynes for a lovely long weekend by the beach! 🫶 🌊

🌧️ That’s a wrap on the King’s Birthday long weekend! 🌧️

A huge thank you to all of our wonderful guests who joined us at Cheynes Beach despite the wild weather! We certainly weren’t blessed with the sunshine we were hoping for, with plenty of wind and rain keeping everyone on their toes. 😅

And then, just when we thought things couldn’t get any tougher… there was the heartbreak of the Dockers missing out on their first Grand Final win! 💜🏉

Even the park took a bit of a battering, with a few fence panels blown out and a bit of a mess to clean up. Considering just how windy it was, we think Cheynes faired pretty well!

A special thanks to everyone who still made the most of the weekend — from getting together around the campfire to settling in for the footy in the camp kitchen. ❤️

🌞 The good news? The forecast is looking much more like Cheynes Beach this coming weekend — sunshine is on the way!

We can’t wait to welcome you back for some blue skies, beach days and a little less wind! 🏖️☀️
