We've commenced proceedings in the Federal Court against Subaru for allegedly failing to give independent car repairers equal access to the information they need to repair Subaru cars, in breach of the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Information Sharing Scheme (MVIS).
The MVIS is a mandatory scheme that promotes competition in the Australian automotive service and repair sector, by ensuring that independent mechanics are given fair and equal access to motor vehicle service and repair information so that they can compete on a level playing field with dealerships.
We allege that by not complying with the MVIS, consumers may have been unable to use an independent, local or family-run repairer, rather than using Subaru's dealership.
