Paint weekend has come and gone for Steve’s XE. A last minute crisis was averted and the paint went on without a hiccup. The result was better than he expected which is a great result for me.
Thanks to Simon Allen for averting said crisis and Zoey Stevenson (aka The Gunman, see YouTube) for laying on the sweet colour.
Walk around video in comments.

More on Steve’s XE, painted all the jambs, engine bay and all under panels.
A final run over and touch up of all areas in preparation for painting next weekend. My mate the Gunman (YouTube) is coming up to give me a hand. It’s taken 18 months on and off to get to this stage, looking forward to finishing it. Will post the finished result next week.

I’ve been wanting to play with some metal flake for ages, finally during this break I had time, I used my old work falcon as the canvas.
The stencil was made by StickThis Automotive for me.
From go to woah it took around 15 hours. 5 coats of clear over it, now I’ll wait for a month to let it cure out completely then flat sand and polish.
Very happy with the end result.
Mind you the bonnet is now worth more than the whole car 😂

Also going at the moment is a complete repaint of this XE. There are some small rust areas in the rear arches and front torque boxes which has been repaired. The plenum had to come off as the vents were rusted through, new ones were fabricated by Simon Allen, they were welded back in, seam sealed and POR.
Plenum was POR’d underneath before refitting. Many more pics to come as work progresses.

Quite a rare car in atm, a HR premier…..factory manual. Needed extensive rust repair to the front of the rear spring hanger portion of the floor, it was well advanced and portions of the seat base frame had to be replaced. It’s also had a boot floor put in.
After some surface rust on the floor was treated it the got the POR treatment then sound deadener applied. Interior to be refitted and then a few mechanical repairs to get it through a RWC.
Thanks to Simon Allen, gun fabricator👌

Sorry haven’t done too much worthy of posting lately, that’ll change real soon. There are a couple of interesting restorations in very soon.
But in the meantime I’ve been doing quite a few painting repair jobs, bars, doors etc.
The whole rear of the MX5 got repaired and repainted, and the BF had a repair and repaint on the rear bar.

Short video of the first body fit up to see where everything is sitting.

First trial fit of the body panels in 10-15 years, seeing what issues were going to have.

It’s been a while since I posted about this F100, I’ve been getting onto it as I could. The chassis was covered in overspray and bog dust so it was stripped repainted and needed strengthening added to comply with current regs.
1/2 inch fuel line to keep the twin blower holleys fed.
Trans cooler under the tray bed which will have twin thermos to cool it.
I used a blower shop throttle linkage which works very well.
Next step is to put the cab and body panels on and see where everything is sitting.
Till next time 👍
