Changing the horn ring in the GT. Old one started getting a bit melty. Was getting a bit embarrassing turning corners and the horn kept going off. Thanks to the GT Shop for supplying the parts

Had this fairly new Jeep Grand Cherokee in the workshop the other day for a routine service. Even the newer cars still need their regular check‑ups — oil, filters, inspections, and making sure everything is running exactly how it should.

A tidy bit of maintenance now keeps these modern engines happy, saves headaches later, and makes sure the Jeep stays smooth, quiet, and ready for whatever the owner throws at it.

Always good seeing clean, well‑looked‑after vehicles coming through the shop.

GT Wiring – What You Do in a Bit of Down‑Time
Had a quiet moment in the workshop, so I thought I’d poke around the GT’s wiring… and of course it turned into a full‑blown adventure. The charging system had decided it was mates with the park‑light circuit and was powering it up whenever the engine was running. Not ideal.

Pulled the dash apart and found the charge wire had done a bit of “self‑clearancing” — melted straight through the instrument light wiring and even into an earth. Basically, everything behind the dash was having a group chat it wasn’t invited to.

While I was in there, I swapped all the dash, radio and clock bulbs for LEDs to brighten things up. Then the 55‑year‑old headlight switch took one look at me and fell apart out of pure spite, so that got replaced too. Finished off with a fresh reproduction spotlight switch to keep the old-school look without the old-school dramas.

Not a bad way to spend a bit of down‑time — and the GT’s electrics are now behaving themselves like they should.

Colorado Rear Brakes – A Little Adventure
This Colorado rolled in with a brake pedal that was heading almost all the way to the floor. A quick look at the rear brakes showed the shoes had backed themselves off, so we adjusted the driver’s side and moved over to the passenger side… only to realise the adjuster had completely disappeared.

Pulled the drum off and there it was — the adjuster and spring just hanging out inside, doing absolutely nothing. We repaired the spring, put everything back where it belongs, and the brakes are now working properly again.

If your brake pedal suddenly feels soft or travels way further than it should, something inside the brakes has probably come loose. A quick check can save you a big headache later

Had this one the other day. Seems like a minor thing but hey.
This MAP sensor from a Holden Colorado is completely clogged with carbon and oily soot. The MAP sensor tells the ECU what’s happening inside the intake manifold so it can deliver the right amount of fuel. When it’s dirty, the engine gets bad information — and performance suffers.

A blocked MAP sensor can cause:

Poor fuel economy

Sluggish power

Excess smoke

Rough running and fault codes

Keeping it clean helps the engine run smoother, improves fuel efficiency, and prevents unnecessary DPF and intake issues. A quick clean can make a big difference in how your Colorado drives.
