The action takes place both on and off the track with racing 25 times per year. The two-day Canberra Carnival encapsulates the John McGrath Auto Group Black Opal Stakes and TAB Canberra Cup in March. Thoroughbred Park Function & Convention Centre is quickly developing an enviable reputation for function and conference facilities. Our catering and event team are readily available to assist with all your enquiries and understand the needs of your ever-changing requirements. You can be confident that our staff will ensure your event is a great success. Thoroughbred Park offers an extensive variety of menus; however our chefs are flexible and happy to tailor a menu within your budget suited to your needs. We have conference and function facilities for everyone, from a small conference of 12 to large events of up to 2000. With a variety of large outdoor areas, you can get married under the beautiful flowering plum trees or start your event with drinks and canapés in the mounting yard. The outdoor options are endless!

Congratulations to Sammi and Tiger on a fantastic Equimillions 🐎

Sammi and Tiger were one of four successful applicants for this year’s Thoroughbred Park and Queanbeyan Racing Club sponsorship, chosen for their connection to our region, and it is the second year in a row we have been proud to back them.

Tiger jumped double clear in the 90cm to finish 6th, just outside the placings, before picking up two unlucky rails in the 1m. A great result for the pair, especially given they haven’t been to many shows recently.

Seeing retired thoroughbreds thriving in new careers is what Equimillions is all about. Well done to you both.

🐂🏇 What a day with the Gungahlin Bulls at Thoroughbred Park! The silks room was packed to the rafters, the atmosphere was electric, and the Bulls community showed exactly how to do a Race Day. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the club and share a fantastic day of racing.

A special mention to jockey Alysha Collett for a double on the day, and to trainer Luke Pepper and jockey Brodie Loy, who teamed up to win the last two races.

Floriade has wrapped up for another year, but Thoroughbred Park is in full bloom.

Our grounds team work tirelessly year round to keep the venue looking amazing, with seasonal flowers and greenery coming through all the time. The grounds are looking especially nice at this time of year, so come and see them for yourself at one of our Spring Race Days.

Every other package for TAB Melbourne Cup & Big Dance Race Day has sold out completely, and we couldn't be more grateful to Canberra.

Here's what's still available for Tuesday 3 November 2026:

The Stayers Edition is making its debut this year and the Rich Reward Room is almost full. Think a chef's selection menu, a beverage package to match and refined surrounds overlooking the track. This is one you won't want to miss. $330 per person.

Premium GA gives you a table of your own in the heart of the action, with a drink on arrival. $260 for a table of 4 or $390 for a table of 6.

General Admission is $20 per person.

The Black Opal Room Table is exclusive to CRC members and Colts and Fillies. If you've been on the fence about joining, this is your sign.
