Following completion of recent works in Darwin, our team was onsite yesterday to support the undocking of Starlight alongside our client, Austral Fisheries.
The vessel returned to the water without issue and completed in-water testing successfully, a great outcome and a testament to the efforts of everyone involved.
Great to see another project back where it belongs, on the water. ⚓🌊

Our team spent the last couple of months in Darwin working on Starlight for our client, Austral Fisheries.

This project involved an extensive scope of structural, hull and engineering upgrades, including:

⚓ Full below-waterline hull and shell plate renewals
⚙️ Rudder and steering gear upgrades
🌊 Raw water inlet upgrades and new sea strainers
🔧 Engine room upper shell plate renewals
🛠️ Bulbous tube extensions
⚓ Tunnel gusset installation
🔩 New Freeman hatches for improved access and future maintenance
📏 New draft marks and anode buttons
🔥 Frame repairs and replacements throughout affected areas

Projects like Starlight are a reflection of the skill, dedication and hard work of our crew. We're proud of the workmanship and attention to detail that went into every stage of the project. Great work, team!

Congratulations to Kurt, our 4th year apprentice, who has officially completed his apprenticeship and is now a qualified tradesman. 👏

Kurt achieved outstanding results and received fantastic feedback from TAFE, a true reflection of the hard work, commitment and dedication he has shown throughout his training.

Now onto the next chapter! We’re looking forward to seeing him continue to develop his skills, grow in his trade and take on new opportunities with the FNF team.

Today i had a great morning of connection, insight and inspiration at the Women in Manufacturing breakfast held in Cairns at the Crystalbrook Riley.
We heard from an inspiring lineup of female speakers ranging from established industry leaders to the next generation of emerging talent. Each shared powerful perspectives on leadership, growth mindset, resilience and the importance of backing yourself throughout your career journey.
One of the key takeaways for me was the value of having mentors throughout your career.
