Reviews like this honestly mean the world to us. ❤️

When we started Auto-Mate, our goal was simple — look after people the way we’d want to be looked after.

Cars can be stressful (especially when they start making noises your wallet doesn’t want to hear 😂), so we pride ourselves on giving honest advice, explaining what’s happening, and helping our customers make the right decisions for their vehicle and their budget.

A huge thank you to everyone who trusts us with their cars, recommends us to friends and family, and supports our little business. We appreciate it more than you know. 🔧❤️

The seal wasn’t broken… the relationship was. 😂

Sometimes a leak isn’t caused by the seal itself.

During an inspection, we found the sealing surface had been damaged and the seal wasn’t sitting correctly — meaning even a new seal would struggle to do its job properly.

When it comes to keeping fluids where they belong, the small details matter. A damaged surface, incorrect fitment, or missed preparation can turn a simple repair into a returning problem.

This is why we take the time to inspect the whole picture, not just replace the part that’s leaking. 🔧

Can we all agree that whoever designs some of these engine bays should have to service them at least once? 😅

This oil filter location left Sean with two choices:
❌ Make a mess.
✅ Invent a DIY “She Wee.”

We’ll let you guess which one he picked. 😂

This is what years of carbon build-up looks like inside your diesel’s EGR system.

Less airflow = less grunt, more smoke, and unhappy engines.
Regular servicing helps keep your diesel breathing easier 🔧

The difference between “it still runs”… and running properly. 👀

Spark plugs don’t usually fail overnight—they wear away gradually. Which means your car can still start and drive, but it may not be running as efficiently as it should.

A worn spark plug can lead to reduced performance, increased fuel consumption and a rougher-running engine over time.

Sometimes it’s the smallest parts that make the biggest difference. ✨

👉 Did you know spark plugs are a service item, or did you think they just lasted forever? 😅

Ever noticed how something we say in the workshop sounds very different once it leaves the workshop? 😅

Same message… very different interpretation.

🔧 Mechanic: “There’s a small oil leak starting”
👂 Customer: “My engine is about to explode”

🔧 Mechanic: “Brakes are getting low”
👂 Customer: “I might not stop ever again”

🔧 Mechanic: “It’s due for a service”
👂 Customer: “I’ve ruined the entire car”

We’re not trying to scare anyone — just keeping things honest so small issues don’t turn into big ones.

Capturing problems early is always cheaper (and less stressful) than waiting until the car makes the decision for you. 😆

What’s the funniest “translation” you’ve heard from your own car? 👇

If you've ever wondered why some Captivas leave a trail of black soot, sound like they're shaking a toolbox on startup, or seem to collect warning lights like Pokémon cards... you're not alone. 😅

Some of the more common issues we see include:
🔧 Timing chain wear
🔧 Cooling system faults
🔧 Diesel soot buildup
🔧 Electrical gremlins

Does every Captiva have these problems? No.

But if you own one, they're definitely worth keeping an eye on. Catching issues early is usually much cheaper than waiting for them to introduce themselves properly.

Captiva owners... defend yourselves in the comments. 😆👇

This air filter’s got more bits in it than my kids’ car seats 😅

Moth wings, leaves… who knows what else was hiding in there 👀

One of these can be vacuumed. The other got replaced 😂

Air filters are one of those things that are easy to forget about, but when they’re full of dirt and debris, they can’t do their job properly.

👉 Be honest… what’s worse: your car’s air filter or under your kids’ car seats? 😂

The hose on the right was fitted to this vehicle previously—but it’s actually larger and incorrectly shaped for the application.

It might look close enough, but cooling systems don’t run on “close enough.”

Wrong hoses can lead to:
🔧 Leaks
🔧 Poor coolant flow
🔧 Premature failure
🔧 Bigger problems down the track

This is a perfect example of why we don’t just fit parts that look similar—we fit the right ones.

Because “it fits” and “it’s correct” are not the same thing.
