RAM 2500 or 3500 — which one's actually right for a full touring build?

The 2500 runs coils in the rear. Most dealers sell them NB1 (car licence, 4,500 kg GVM). If you can order NB2 straight from Walkinshaw, we can certify 5,460 kg GVM — real payload headroom for roof racks, solar, bull bar, winch, batteries, and the tow-ball download from your van.

The 3500 runs leafs. Better for canopy-heavy builds and towing 4.5 tonnes consistently. More payload ceiling before you're at the limit.

Boat, canopy, gear inside it — and still legal? You need the right GVM.

Factory Chev 2500 = 4,495kg. Add canopy + boat + fuel + passengers + tow-ball download from your van, and you're past the limit before you've even loaded the fridge.

Why we don't fit cheap suspension — you'll just pay twice.

Dean's call: good 2.5" remote-res shocks (Fox, King, BDS) are non-negotiable on every American truck build. Cheap alternatives look affordable now, but you'll replace them.

The F-150 Platinum rear shocks? Let the truck down. Factory stuff fails under load; cheap aftermarket does the same, just slower.

If you're building once and doing it properly, suspension is where you don't compromise. Pre-registration GVM + quality suspension = compliant, capable, done.
