BUCKET LIST AUSTRALIA #1 โ NINGALOO REEF, WA ๐๐
There are holidaysโฆ and then there are the places you talk about for the rest of your life.
Welcome to Ningaloo Reef on Western Australia's spectacular Coral Coast โ where the red dirt of the Australian outback meets some of the clearest turquoise water you'll ever see.
If there's one place that deserves a spot on the Australian caravanner's bucket list, this is it.
๐ SWIM WITH THE GIANTS
Ningaloo is famous around the world for the opportunity to swim alongside magnificent whale sharks.
Depending on the season, you might also encounter humpback whales, manta rays, dolphins and turtles.
Imagine looking through your snorkel and seeing a whale shark cruising effortlessly beside you.
That's not another weekend away.
That's a memory for life.
๐ STEP OFF THE BEACH AND INTO ANOTHER WORLD
One of the truly special things about Ningaloo is just how accessible the reef can be.
At places like Turquoise Bay, you can walk straight off the beach, put your mask on and suddenly find yourself drifting above colourful coral and tropical fish.
No massive boat journey required.
Just you, the reef and ridiculously blue water.
๐๏ธ THEN THERE'S CAPE RANGE
Right beside Ningaloo Reef sits the spectacular Cape Range National Park.
Think rugged limestone ranges, deep canyons, empty beaches and incredible campsites where you're surrounded by the Australian wilderness.
Explore Yardie Creek.
Snorkel Turquoise Bay.
Watch kangaroos appear around camp.
Then pull up a chair as the sun disappears over the Indian Ocean.
And tomorrow? Do it all again.
๐ THIS IS WHY WE TRAVEL BY CARAVAN & MOTORHOME
Ningaloo isn't somewhere you want to rush.
Having your own home travelling behind you means you can slow everything down.
Stay another night.
Cook breakfast overlooking the bush.
Spend another afternoon swimming.
Move on when you're ready.
And enjoy the thousands of kilometres of Australia between home and Ningaloo rather than treating them as something you simply have to get through.
Because sometimes the road there becomes just as memorable as the destination.
๐
PUT THIS ONE ON THE LIST.
Ningaloo Reef isn't around the corner from Bundaberg.
And that's exactly the point.
Australia is enormous.
There are extraordinary places waiting at the end of our highways, down our country roads and beyond the next horizon.
You just need a reason to go looking for them.
Have you travelled to Ningaloo? Or is this one still sitting on your bucket list? ๐
Because life's too short to leave Australia unexplored.
