Working on this horse transporter for a valued customer heading away to upcoming events 🐎

The existing battery monitoring system had failed, and due to the age of the setup, an exact replacement was no longer available. After some research, we upgraded the system with a premium Victron Smart battery monitor and 500A shunt.

The shunt is the key part of the system it measures all current flowing in and out of the battery, allowing the Victron system to accurately calculate state of charge, usage, and overall battery health in real time.

This upgrade now gives the customer full visibility of their battery system via the Victron app making it easy to monitor charge, discharge, and performance while on the road.

We also installed additional 12V power sockets to support a fridge and other accessories, improving overall usability for those longer trips away.

Another tidy and practical upgrade, ready for the road 👍

Had the privilege of working on this Mustang recently, carrying out electrical diagnostics and finishing work.

We diagnosed and repaired an inoperative fuel gauge and integrated upgraded interior lighting into a new centre console setup. All circuits were tested to ensure everything operates reliably.

Older wiring can hide a few gremlins, so careful fault finding is key.

First round of repairs completed more to come. Looking forward to getting back to this one soon.

Field Service Job 🔧🔋

Attended site after the customer reported starting issues. On inspection, a major wiring fault at the battery was quickly identified posing both a reliability issue and a potential hazard.

Carried out a full tidy-up of the battery wiring, including manufacturing new battery leads and securing all connections correctly.

Also fitted a battery isolator to improve safety and prevent future battery drain when the machine is not in use.

System now starting and operating as it should 👍

Attended customer site to diagnose multiple electrical faults affecting auxiliary hydraulic remote valves and front axle suspension system.

Auxiliary remote valves were inoperative with multiple fault codes indicating no power supply to solenoids. Traced fault to a broken 12V feed wire at the rear of the cab due to corrosion. Wiring repaired, loom resealed and secured. System retested with all auxiliary valves now operating correctly.

Front axle suspension fault traced to LH pilot solenoid circuit. Further inspection found corrosion and wiring damage within the under-cab 12-pin connector. Pins replaced, wiring repaired, and connector cleaned and protected.

Both systems retested and operating as intended.

Another happy customer back on the road (and water) just in time for their holiday! 🚤

We recently attended a valued customer who found themselves in a bit of a pickle. After hooking up their boat ready to head away, they discovered the trailer brakes weren’t functioning, definitely not something you want before a trip.

We quickly attended on-site and carried out fault diagnostics, tracing the issue back to a faulty electric brake actuator on the trailer.

The electric brake actuator plays a critical role in trailer safety, converting the signal from your vehicle into hydraulic braking force. Without it operating correctly, braking performance is severely compromised,putting both the driver and others on the road at risk.

Being a Saturday morning, time was against us, but thanks to a great local supplier, the customer was able to source a replacement actuator immediately. Not only did they have one in stock, they also delivered it and assisted with bleeding the trailer brakes once we had completed the installation.

A great team effort all round, and even better to see the customer able to continue their trip safely.

If you’re towing a caravan, boat, or trailer, don’t overlook your braking system. Regular checks can prevent situations like this and keep you safe on the road.
