We are usually top 3 outright up there & this one was a beauty run.

Its a mad house of buzzing energy all the time here.

Anyways,,, Well,,, big morning at work today, lots of customers, heaps happening, Archie came & grabbed some big benches to take home.

I've sorted more stuff with Thomas's Cooper cyl head, trimmed the valves down in size some more & gave em all a good 45deg trim & a back-cut.

its now ready for the bronze guides to get pressed-in & seats cut & a surface skim at the machine shop.

So ive got 3x heads ready to go down to the machine shop now... thatll keep Terry busy

Back at the workshop this morning... not doing too much today, (((a bit worn-out from the last week's work, especially yesturday flogged me pretty good))) but finished-up 3x cyl heads ready for the machine shop next week , & sorted our new Ladder & painters planks up the side of our house ready for some more sanding & painting.

Anyways... had a coupla customers already this morning & now doin a little bit on the new race buggy.

Yes you heard it right... --> currently sitting at 253kgs.

The old car was originally 310kgs when we first ran it 16x years ago ,,, but its grown over the years Into a big phat 380kgs... i cant believe I let that happen but still, here we are.

So this ones gonna be staying very light, even right now there is quite a number of items on this car that will be removed & replaced with lighter parts as we go along.

Shocks, hubs, rear brakes , axles etc etc etc... lots of things actually.

So the few little extra things we fit from here-on-in may well be countered by the lightweight parts we replace them with.

We will try to keep this car under 270kgs total, finished.

& with 180hp Yamaha R1 crossplane motor (& we have a couple of spare engines sitting here too)
we should be quite a bit quicker than our current race-buggy,,, & more fun to throw around on the little 8x10" Hoosier slicks all round.

Bit by bit... one nut, one bolt, one washer, one minute, one dollar, every day & itll be done.

Sitting down, kicking back, chilling-out just looking at it from time to time is good for the soul too... but get back up & rip-in & get it done yeah?

Stop being lazy & get off your arse & just do it!!!!!

Thomas's valves all looking good now... all stainless,
32.5mm inlets & 29mm exhausts...

ill probly trim them all down a bit more yet, but ill wait until we have some guides in & the seats all trimmed so we can have a look from there as to how theyre all sitting. & then determine if we need to trim some more down then.
(I probably will trim some more tho)

Anyways... the day is wearing on & on & ive gotta go pick up a new ladder from bunnings before they shut. With the new ladder i can keep-on painting our house.

Okydoky so Thomas's little 295 Cooper head we have already ripped into ages ago,,, then shelved it for a while as we really were jumping the gun on it & pushed it in front of the que of heads/engines that were already booked in earlier than his.

So we can keep bouncing onto it now & then , when I have a little time to play,,,

just reducing the size of some new 1275 valves here... we have already opened-up the ports & pockets & valve seat areas nice & large, so the std issue small-bore valves just fall through the holes (literally)

so we use some 1275 valves & trim em down... works & treat & generally gives us a better "starting-point/angle" for our rockers too.

Yes we spend an awful amount of time setting-up rockers on all our engines... it really is the "make-or-break" of a good engine build so it pays to spend the time needed to get all the springs & swipes & angles & dangles right instead of just bolting on "something" to get you going.

You really can loose quite a lot just bunging something on instead of paying attention here.

Thats a story for another day tho.

So... Thomas,,, im trimming valves down today... just a bit more towards getting yours closer to the finish line yeah? Once we are happy with the valves ill punch some guides in & do some dummy seats to see how things are sitting.

Well well well... after some lovely breakfast im back into this head for Adam.

Its an absolutely beautifully day & i cant think of anything else id rather be doing that porting mini cyl heads

Anyways.. its all happening here... ive punched-out the guides & ripped into the pockets & guide-bosses & blended somewhat... ive also got rid if all those nasty big lumps-n-bumps & all the daggy casting marks everywhere,,, smoothed it all up with fine emery thru all the exhausts & very cause emery theu all the inlets...

so now its good to go for new guides & seats & a skim with a good CCing thrown in to measure all the chambers.

What a little beaudy head it is now ey?

Yee haa... more cyl head work happening today while everyone else is having a day off.

Yes im still way behind on heads, having a hip replaced took some time off recently so im back at it now.

Adam yours is nearly finished now, ill have it finished today... & Michael ill get yours & Adams both down to the machine shop next week for 3x angle seats cut & surface skims & thrn we shall CC (measure) them both.

We dragged the new lightweight race buggy out from next door so we can have a play & do some more work on that over the weekend.

We will most probably play some ping pong with Brad Sinclair tonight & just generally be silly

Well Archie's off on holidays for his Birthday this week,,, so its Robbo, Gory & me holding down the fort.

Here we have Robbo working on the bimmer-twinky donk for Camm,,, Gorys finished a wheel alignment & rebuilt a couple of racks & gone home already,,, & ive nudged the new race buggy into the shop to get a bit more done on it.

Tomorows a day off for all of us, so sorry we won't be at the shop (ill probly drop-in at some stage tho)

ill certainly be there Saturday doing cyl-heads as usual.
