🦁 From repairing vehicles inside a lion’s enclosure to running multiple successful businesses, Chris Brooker’s automotive journey is anything but ordinary.

This month’s MTA Q&A shines a spotlight on the owner of CB Automotive, whose career began in a family-run Yatala service station in the late 1970s and has evolved into a thriving workshop built on decades of customer trust, community connection and hard work.

Along the way, Chris has seen the industry transform from railway-line ramps masquerading as hoists to advanced diagnostics, hybrid vehicles and increasingly complex repair technology. Yet some things haven’t changed – the importance of quality workmanship, looking after customers, and never stopping learning.

In this candid interview, Chris shares:
🔧 How he got his start in the industry
🦁 The unforgettable experience of repairing vehicles at Bullen’s Lion Park
🚗 His thoughts on emerging vehicle technologies and electrification
👨‍🔧 The ongoing challenge of attracting and retaining skilled technicians
📈 How he expanded into auto parts and courier businesses
💡 His advice for the next generation entering the trade
