Every now and then i get asked or told "Sometimes my gear indicator is doing funny things" Well there is a reason why this could be happening. As shown in the pictures the gear indicator plate sometimes gets glazed on the contacts. This creates a change in the resistance the VCM receives. If was recommended by the manufacturer to remove and have serviced every 16,000km. And the reason for this could be the oil that is being used in the engine. Or even how the bike is operated. A deep hole this can be in discussion. Remember these bikes are made for touring, in other words longer distance than you coffee run to the shop around the corner.. Operating at a consistent temperature for extended periods of time. AND this allows the engine to function as it was designed. Enjoy the Indian ride.

Yes we do see it now and then. The bikes need attention to stay in a safe condition. This is why every 12 months or 8,000km they are scheduled to be serviced by the manufacturer. It is with years of experience when we do these services we gauge whether items like this will make it or not to the next interval service. It's not just trying to sell parts but needing to only have you visit us annually or at 8,000km. Your time is valuable just like the time we spend working on these awesome rides. So it's with reference to your safety and longevity we will make recommendations here at Arrow Motorcycles.
