The last month has been a productive stint, reaching several milestones towards fitting out the interior of Bonnie #2

We now have a rich walnut finish on the dash elements , complete with newly chromed trim.

The interior glass of speedometer has been cleaned revealing the beautiful art deco font on its dial.

The electrics are still "a work in progress", though the hand brake mechanism is ready be installed.

We have also reassembled both the back and front bumper bars.

The original door cards were 3D scanned and printed. Moe has tirelessly sanded the 3D printed mould to a mirror finish so that the fibreglass mould will easily release. These door panels will form the substructure for the leather interior.

What's next ?
Our fabric is the original pale cream Bedford Cord from has arrived from America. Our upholster is making the characteristic multiple waterfall pleats for both the front and rear seats which reflects and matches the distinctive waterfall grill.

Progress is steady this week.

Moe has completed 2 large sections of the flooring with their sound deadening stone guard coating.

There are still some smaller bits of the flooring to coat and fit next week.

The battery carriage is complete.

He has reconditioned the gear box cover with a rust inhibitor and a new black layer of paint.

Sunday morning was spent realigning door hinges for both passenger doors left hand side. It was a 2 person job with moral support from our dachshunds Beetee and Dora.

We are proceeding at a steady pace.

Work has begun on fitting the battery chamber to the flooring.

We are both deliberating about the interior colours for the upholstery and panel doors.

But for the time being here is a sneak peek inside.

As for all rewarding projects this one is both daunting and exciting in equal measure.

We are tackling each aspect to the best of our collective abilities.

These are the BEFORE photos.

We are collaborating with an "old school" fabric upholstery.

These are the seating frames which need to be wire brushed to remove surface rust and treated.
To give the seating it's bounce there are approximately 75 springs to each portion of the seating.

Here were have the bare bones consisting of coiled springs held in place with hessian pockets.

Needless to say every stage is very time-consuming.

The parts cars are standard CU Airflows.
The surface is corroded but beautiful in is own way.
These cars are incredible references and provide guidance to the restoration of the interior of the Imperial Airflow.
