I started 1VAA in 2020 as my tenure in the military was drawing to a close.
The urgency of the upcoming discharge deadline made me realise that I would soon be without the one thing I'd spent the last 6 years building up, mateship.

With my love of cars still firmly intact, combining the motoring world and military world came as instinctively as a little "shake shake" for obstruction in the body.

But then life got busy, the club went quiet, and the joy of having a beer or a cruise with those who can also speak the lingo fell dormant.

Since 2020 we've had the odd catchup, cruise or karting sesh, with a few spontaneous social media blitzes to “stay relevant”.

But now with some time off, a rethink, and a full mindset shift, I've been able to step back, look up and out, and see the full potential that we, as a club, really have.

So this is the restart.
And this time it’s going to be less of an association and more of an all-in movement.

We're going to be getting out there and getting after it.
We'll be getting ourselves, our faces and our cars out there.
We'll be hearing from veterans, families, supporters and a wide array of different communities.

We'll also start leaning into our core values and bringing exclusive perks to veteran members including discounts, giveaways and assistance programs.

Over the next few months you’ll see events, convoy runs, veteran business collaborations, merch drops, and the biggest 1VAA meet we’ve ever held.

If you’re a veteran or part of Australia’s car scene, I want you here… we all do.

To get things started, drop which unit you had the most fun at or your favourite pic of what you drive.

Now here’s the question for ya...

🗣 If a young fella or lass was about to enlist in the ADF, what’s one thing you’d tell them?
Not the sugar-coated brochure stuff but the nitty-gritty stuff, the stuff you wish someone told you.

Whether it's about Pookie, why you don't salute the WO at marchout, how to understand DOHAS, HPAS, DVA, RA, or how to keep your head right... we wanna hear it from the heart.

RFS or ADF...Who's got the better trucks?

When LAND 121 rolled out and replaced the Mogs and Macks for the MAN's, the air was thick with skepticism. Everyone talking on the digger net about how it was a cost-cutting move, especially when the old trucks were proven work horses.

So did the RFS end up with better rigs than the ADF or does the sheer pulling power of the newer fleet get them over the line? 👀

The legacy we leave behind.

Recent changes to the Australian War Memorial’s display of Ben Roberts-Smith’s medals have reignited national conversation.

Roberts-Smith is Australia’s most decorated living soldier, but also the subject of damning findings in a civil court, including unlawful killings and misconduct in Afghanistan. No criminal charges have been laid, but the court ruled the allegations were "substantially true" on the balance of probabilities.

As a veteran-run club let's ask the question:
How do we protect the integrity of our uniform, while staying accountable to the values it’s supposed to represent?

The War Memorial says it will update the display again. Some want it removed. Others want the full story shown.
