The XC’s comeback is getting underway—and an XA is giving up a few parts for the cause! 🔧

We’re getting stuck into the rust repairs, using a sacrificial XA front end to help get this car sorted. Plenty of cutting, fitting and problem-solving—with a bit of workshop humour along the way.

It’s also our lead panel be**er Chris’s camera debut! It took a little more than an arm twist to get him to say yes, but we’re so pleased he did. With 40 years in the trade, he’s got plenty of knowledge to share, and it’s great to hear directly from the bloke doing the work.

And yes… the coupe versus hardtop debate lives on 😂 What do you call it?

Making new panels fit a 1934 body? It’s rarely as simple as it looks.

Don & Narelle’s ’34 Fordor is really starting to take shape, and in this update Oscar talks us through some of the challenges behind the build.

Reproduction panels give you a starting point — but they don’t necessarily line up perfectly with each other, let alone an original body that was built more than 90 years ago.

That means working through fit, alignment, gaps and dimensions, figuring out where things need to be adjusted and finding solutions as the car comes together.

This is real custom work — there’s no instruction manual and very little is simply bolt-on.

It takes skill, patience and plenty of problem-solving to make old and new work together properly.

We’re loving seeing Don & Narelle’s Fordor taking shape and can’t wait to see this one progress 💪

After the huge response to our last EH Sedan video, you guys had some brilliant questions about the work going into this car.

So we grabbed Greg and Steve, our painter working on the EH, headed out to the car and put your questions to them.

They cover panel gaps, rubbers, suspension and body alignment, prep work, the hours involved and plenty of the finer details behind getting an EH to this stage.

VL CALAIS UPDATE | Why strip before sandblasting?

We’re getting the VL right back to bare metal — but there’s an important step before it heads to the sandblaster.

In this update, we show you the initial paint-stripping process and explain why we remove the bulk of the old paint and coatings first.

It means the blaster doesn’t have to work the panels as hard, helping minimise heat and reduce the risk of distortion — especially across those larger, flatter panels.

It takes more time, but protecting the original panels now can save a whole lot of work later.

Some cars are worth a lot more than what’s written on the price tag. ❤️

James & Cooper’s EH Sedan is one of the bigger builds moving through Viking at the moment — and we reckon the story behind this one is pretty bloody cool.

James drove this car as a younger bloke. Now he’s passing the baton to his son, Cooper.

How’s that for a hand-me-down? 👌

Right now, the EH is going through its final refinements before being primed for the last time.

And this is one of those stages where being fussy really matters.

Our painters spend a huge amount of time checking the body, refining the lines, blocking, feeling and correcting the smallest imperfections. Because once the colour and clear go on, there’s nowhere for poor prep to hide.

A beautiful paint job doesn’t start in the spray booth.

It starts right here.

Get the body right. Get the lines right. Get the foundations right. Then the paint has the chance to be something special.

There’s still a way to go with this build, but seeing a car that meant something to Dad being rebuilt for the next generation is exactly the sort of thing we love being part of.

Can’t wait to see Cooper behind the wheel of this one. 🔥

An HX Monaro cruising down south? Now that’s our kind of road trip 😎🤘 Until it started running rough and the owner needed a hand, fast.

He suspected the carby, but the Viking crew’s initial checks turned up a worn distributor cap, carbon build-up on the plugs and leads that have seen better days.

Those issues could be behind the rough running, so we’re working through them first. Once the ignition side is right, we’ll check the carby and tune it if needed.

It’s a seriously cool piece of Aussie muscle. We’re working to get it running right and back where it belongs—on the road. 🔧
