❄️ Why We Don’t “Just Re-Gas” Air Conditioning Systems ❄️
Under Australian law it is illegal to recharge an automotive A/C system if it has a known leak. Venting refrigerant into the atmosphere is prohibited and simply topping up a leaking system is not compliant and irresponsible.
If your car’s air conditioning isn’t blowing cold, it’s tempting to think a simple re-gas is the fix. But in most cases, air-con systems don’t lose gas unless there’s a problem. Re-gassing without proper testing is like topping up a flat tyre without checking for a puncture — it might work temporarily, but the issue will come back (and often worse).
Here’s why we do it properly:
✔️ Refrigerant loss usually means a leak
✔️ Leaks can damage compressors, seals, and hoses
✔️ Re-gassing without repairs wastes money and refrigerant
✔️ It can lead to bigger, more expensive failures down the track
Here at Eureka Auto Electrical we do it properly:
🫧 System pressure testing with Nitrogen
🔍 Leak detection
🔧Correct repairs before re-gassing
We aim to save you money long-term, protect the environment, and ensure your air conditioning works when you actually need it.
If your A/C isn’t performing as it should, let’s diagnose the cause — not just mask the symptom.
