Evening Cleaner Wanted
Birdwood Fuel & Takeaway

We’re looking for a reliable and thorough cleaner to join our team at Birdwood Fuel & Takeaway.

This is an important role helping us maintain a high standard in a busy takeaway and service station environment.

Hours: Approx. 7:30pm – 9:30pm
Around 5 nights per week (with alternate weekends)

Duties include:
• Cleaning store and customer areas
• Kitchen clean-down (after staff pack down)
• General cleaning to a high standard

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has good attention to detail
• Is reliable and consistent
• Takes pride in their work
• Can work independently

Cleaning or hospitality experience would be highly regarded.

You’ll be working with a friendly, supportive team in a fast-paced environment where standards matter.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to the Birdwood community for all the support since launching our takeaway.
The first couple of weeks had a few tough times ,we know the wait times were extremely long.

The truth is, we just had so many people show up to support us, we couldn’t keep up and we honestly appreciate that more than we can say .

A special thank you as well to those customers who have been coming back day after day, your support doesn’t go unnoticed, and it means a lot to us.

Since then, we’ve worked hard behind the scenes and have really found our rhythm:
Kitchen running smoothly
Faster service
Consistent quality

We’re also taking the time to get everything running exactly how it should be before we master our gluten-free options.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time, and we’re only getting better from here.

Due to the current fuel shortage, we unfortunately have no availability of Premium 95 or 98 at Birdwood Fuel at the moment.

Regular unleaded is still available.

We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s patience while supply is restored. We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as it arrives.

A little kindness can go a long way — especially in a small town like Birdwood.

With everything going on around the current fuel situation, service station staff have been absolutely flat out answering phone calls, explaining supply issues and doing their very best to make sure communities can still access fuel.

We’ve had to put limits on things like jerry cans so there is enough for everyone, and while it’s been a stressful week, our team have handled it incredibly well.

Over the past week, a few kind customers stopped by with flowers, lollies and biscuits just to tell the staff to “hang in there”. That small act of kindness meant so much to the staff dealing with it.

We just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while we work through this together.

A gentle reminder to please keep all service station staff in mind — not just here, but across every site and every town. They’re all doing their very best in a situation that is completely out of their control.

We’re proud to live in Birdwood and proud of the town that looks after its own ❤️

BIRDWOOD COMMUNITY

With our local takeaway closing soon, we wanted to let the community know what we’re working toward.
Birdwood Fuel is in a strong position to step into this space. We already have the right location, easy access and parking, and a great local team who know our customers and the town.

We’ve been exploring how Birdwood Fuel could grow into more of a one-stop shop — somewhere locals can fuel up, grab a meal, and support a business that reinvests back into the community.

A big part of this is local employment. This would allow us to add more hours for current staff, bring new people into the team, and create more ongoing jobs for locals — especially young people and families in our area.

We’ve got plenty of ideas, but we want to make sure anything we do reflects what the community actually wants.

The kind of offering/menu range we’re looking at includes:
• Burgers
• Fish and chips
• Schnitzels
• Family meals
• Yiros
• Curries
• All your deep fried favourites
