🔧 DIAGNOSE & REPAIR | DIESEL FUEL IN THE ENGINE OIL 🔧

Another diesel brought back to life at Coastal Diesel Solutions! 💪

This customer came into the workshop with diesel fuel making its way into the engine oil. We suspected the diesel injection pump straight away, so we removed it for inspection and quickly found diesel leaking from the front drive shaft.

After confirming the fault, we recommended stripping and overhauling the pump to get it sorted properly.

While we had everything apart, we took the opportunity to carry out some much-needed maintenance and repairs:

✅ Diesel injection pump stripped and overhauled
✅ Injectors removed and overhauled using genuine parts
✅ Rocker cover oil leak repaired
✅ Valve clearances adjusted — never been done before!
✅ Glow plugs removed and tested
✅ Components cleaned and inspected
✅ Engine oil and filter replaced
✅ New fuel filter installed

Once everything was cleaned up and reassembled, we fired it up and had it running like a diesel should! 👌

It’s all about finding the root cause, doing the job properly and taking care of the little things while we’re there.

🔧 HINO 300 SERIES – A LITTLE DIESEL OPEN-HEART SURGERY! 🛠️

This Hino 300 Series rolled into the workshop with overheating issues and excessive pressure building up in the cooling system. Time to get stuck in and find the root cause!

After carrying out our diagnostic checks, we stripped the engine down and uncovered the problem: a cracked cylinder head and coolant making its way into two cylinders.

With the engine apart, we carefully inspected the components and checked tolerances to make sure everything was right before putting it all back together.

✅ New genuine cylinder head assembly
✅ Injectors tested
✅ New water pump and thermostats
✅ New hoses
✅ Radiator cleaned out
✅ Fresh engine oil and filter

Once everything was back together, it was time to fire it up and bring this engine back to life! 💪

Another job completed, another customer back on the road and their truck back to doing what it does best — making money instead of sitting in the workshop. 🚛

🔧 THE WEEK THAT WAS AT COASTAL DIESEL SOLUTIONS 🚙

What a big week back in the shed after the long weekend! 💪

Here at Coastal Diesel Solutions, we specialise in all things diesel — from vehicle servicing and 4x4 repairs to UTV and side-by-side servicing, turbo diagnostics and repairs, and diesel pump and injector repairs.

It’s been a busy one, with plenty happening in the workshop and not quite enough hours in the day! 😅 But we keep pushing, working together and getting the job done.

We’re a small team of three — one in the office and two in the workshop — and we take pride in giving every customer the service and attention they deserve.

🚙 Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series — Big Birthday!

This Toyota LandCruiser 79 Series came into the workshop recently for a well overdue big birthday — and we gave it the treatment it deserved. 🔧

We stripped down the top half of the engine and found plenty of EGR carbon build-up, so we got stuck into it:

✅ Genuine Denso injectors fitted DENSO Auto Parts Australia
✅ New injector seals
✅ Intake manifold removed and thoroughly cleaned
✅ Intake wet blasted to remove the heavy carbon deposits
✅ Rocker covers removed, cleaned and resealed
✅ All required gaskets and seals replaced
✅ New genuine starter motor fitted
✅ Quality Donaldson air filtration system installed Donaldson Australia
✅ Everything cleaned up and reassembled
✅ Full vehicle wash
✅ Road tested to make sure everything was running as it should

The difference between the before-and-after intake is pretty impressive — years of carbon build-up removed and the engine given a fresh start.

🚨 BRAKES, BRAKES, BRAKES 🚨

We’re honestly not sure how this one got missed.

This Mitsubishi Triton came into our workshop needing some serious attention. When we inspected the brakes, we found one side of the brake pad was completely worn down to the metal.

The brake rotor was also severely worn and damaged.

What makes this even more concerning is that the vehicle had reportedly been serviced by a local dealer only around 1,000 km earlier.

This is exactly why a service should be more than just changing the oil and ticking a box.

When checking brakes, you need to look at both sides of the vehicle and both pads on each caliper. Uneven pad wear is a warning sign that something isn’t right.

A pad can look okay from one angle while the other pad is almost completely gone.

If you find uneven wear, don’t just write it down and move on — find out why.

A sticking caliper, seized slide, hydraulic issue or other problem can cause one pad to wear dramatically faster than the other.

In this case, the vehicle was driven until the pad had worn right through and the damage was done.

Thankfully, it came to us before something much worse happened.

Your brakes are one of the most important safety systems on the vehicle.

Don’t assume they’re okay because the vehicle was “just serviced”.

Actually check them. Check both sides. Check for uneven wear. And if something doesn’t look right — investigate it.

This is the difference between servicing a vehicle and actually inspecting it.
