Repair or remanufacture?

This Atlas Copco compressor muffler came into the EPE workshop for assessment after the original unit began to fail.

Although parts of the muffler could be repaired, extensive corrosion and cracking meant the customer was unlikely to achieve a reliable service life from the existing unit.

In this case, remanufacturing was the better long term option.

This exhaust manifold repair saw EPE working alongside the team at Stirlings Performance Steels

Stirling supplied the locally laser cut 304 stainless steel replacement flanges from their Bibra Lake facility, while our workshop fabricated and fitted the replacement flanges and exhaust bellows to the Jenbacher exhaust manifold pipework.

This truck is currently in the EPE workshop after the customer identified that the exhaust system was directing radiant heat towards the differential housing.

Rather than fabricate a like for like replacement, our team is fabricating a revised stainless steel exhaust system with new routing to reduce heat to the driveline.

Managing radiant heat is critical to protecting surrounding components. Reducing unnecessary heat exposure can significantly improve component life and long term reliability.
