Common rail diesels can be a brutal lesson in the sticking power of carbon and diesel. Injectors can take an incredible amount of force to remove once stuck in their holes.

Direct injection has been a great thing for fuel efficiency and packaging- it's been terrible for valves and ports though.

The lack of "wash" from fuel travelling down the inlet path leads to a build up of oil and exhaust particulate (from the EGR and PCV systems) on the back of the valves and the inlet ports.

Long term this can lead to poor economy, loss of power and even damage to the valve stems and valve seats.

We recommend an upper engine cleaner from the very first services to stop build up and keep your engine running at an optimal level for the life of the car.
