Hi all,

The current Covid outbreak in NSW is unlikely to be the last, given the tiny amount of people in Australia who have received vaccinations. The large number of people out there who also do not believe in being vaccinated, will ensure that this virus continues to circulate in the country now for years - not weeks or months.

The situation might possibly be different in 2022, but there are no guarantees anymore about anything in the covid world that we are unfortunately living in now. What seemed normal at the beginning of 2020 - when this page was initially set up - is anything but normal now.

The problems with rapid border closures that occur with little to no notice, stopping the ability of people to freely travel between states - I am not sure how we plan for any rally at all at the moment, given the number of members who would expect to attend this rally from WA, SA, Vic, ACT & Qld. There is just far too much uncertainty about rapid border closures and subsequent quarantine issues for all of us.

I cannot in all good conscience, approach sponsors or potential sources of funds, for an event that could be canned with less than 24 hours notice. We could not expect people to pay in advance and then travel across borders, or even travel within their own state - like we used to. I don't have tens of thousands of dollars to stump up into an event that could be canned with less than 24 hours notice......I don't think anyone has. Trying to attract sponsors to fund the event will also present a lot of challenges.

As sad as this news is - I feel there is little chance of things getting better between now and the planned rally date of October 2022.

So at this point - I will not be undertaking any further planning for the 50th Rally in 2022. I am incredibly disappointed to have to make this post today, but have to deal with the reality of living in a covid world now - not the normal world we used to live in.

If you already own a nice Z1 or are building one for the 50th Anniversary event, please add a pic or 2 of your Z1 here and any story or description of your bike as well.

There will be further albums added for all other Z models, Z1A-Z1B etc - so if you own one of these models, please be patient - your album will be here shortly :)

Customised Zeds will also have their own album created, so owners will also have a spot to add their custom Z models.

Hi all - with a little over 2 years to go until we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the release of the iconic Kawasaki Z1 in 1972, its time to start getting active on this page.

To kick things off - here is a perfect example of a custom kawasaki, which was not a popular seller, but can still be made to look really cool.

The 1976 Z750T was always considered an ugly duckling of the Z family. It never set the world on fire and was only produced for 3 years from 1976 to 1978. The era of big twins was pretty much over by then.

Here is an example that has been nicely modified and presents really well (y) and this is a perfect example of a bike that could be entered in the 'Modified' class at the anniversary event.

Please share any pics of your own bikes - modified or not. if you have a few good shots - create a photo album here for your bike (y)

Hallo all - just a short note to say I hope you are all keeping safe and virus-free during this most sh*tty of pandemics.

Hopefully soon we can get back to normal business and start riding our bikes again without any lockdowns in place.

This message is just to let everyone know that due to the current travel restrictions and issues with social distancing etc - there is not a great deal happening at the moment in regard to the 50th celebration. Things will kick off again once all lockdown restrictions are lifted.

In the meantime - keep working on those projects and getting them ready for the big event in October 2022.

Thanks to all those who have joined this page and shared it to other pages on Facebook. The further we spread the message about this celebration in 2022 - the better.

An update on progress so far - we are currently working on a small(ish) committee to get things rolling. Further details will be published when the committee structure has been finalised. At this stage we have every State branch of the Z Owners represented by their state President on the committee, as well as a couple of other well-known Z owners from various branches, who have had experience with organising events like this.

One thing that would be good to get feedback from all interested members - is the cost to enter this event, and what that cost should include.

Please post to this page any ideas or suggestions you may have about this - this will help shape the decisions the committee eventually makes, regarding issues such as this.

Hi and welcome to the Z1 50th Anniversary Rally page.

This page is dedicated to discussions and arrangements for the 2022 50th anniversary of the iconic z1 Kawasaki, released at the Cologne motorcycle show in September 1972.

All contributions, ideas, sponsorship proposals, venue suggestions etc are welcomed. For info of members here - I was a member of the rally organising committee for both VJMC national rallies held in the ACT in 2015/16. The 2015 event drew over 300 entries.

As per all rally events - a dedicated committee will be required to arrange and coordinate all the rally arrangements. We will require a Rally Secretary - perhaps the hardest job, a treasurer, merchandise officer, trophy officer, advertising etc. All that before we start thinking about ride routes, ride marshals etc.

As you can see, there will be a lot of work for members on the committee - but with a lot of reward at the end.
