There's knowing your car has a jack… and then there's knowing where it actually is. 😆

Before a long trip, it's worth checking that the wheel-changing equipment supplied with your vehicle is still there and accessible.

Different vehicles store their equipment in different places, and discovering yours for the first time on the side of the road isn't ideal.

A few minutes getting familiar with your own vehicle now can save a lot of head scratching later.

It's not the most glamorous part of your caravan or trailer setup, but that little electrical connection has an important job. 🔌🚐

Your trailer lights — and depending on the setup, its braking connections — need to communicate properly with the tow vehicle.

It's a small part of the overall towing setup that's very easy to overlook until something isn't working as it should.

It's amazing what you remember once you're actually using everything again — the thing you forgot to pack, the thing that isn't working quite as expected, and the thing somebody definitely remembers putting “somewhere safe”. 😂

A Safety Certificate and a full mechanical inspection are not the same thing.

This catches a lot of people out.

A Queensland Safety Certificate checks that a vehicle meets minimum safety standards at the time of inspection.

It is not a full report on the overall mechanical condition of the vehicle or how long components might last.

So if you’re buying, selling or just trying to understand what your car actually needs, it helps to know the difference.
