🏁 Winton 300 Wrap-Up 🏁

What a weekend at the Viola Private Wealth Winton 300! Some big wins and a few tough breaks for the MTA team.

The Brute Ute crossed the finish line - its first race completion in a few years! Huge credit to drivers Grant Phillips & one of our ex-students Sean Bennett, and to the students and trainers who've got it track-ready!

Unfortunately the Veloster hit trouble on the Saturday, with a mechanical failure ruling it out for the rest of the weekend. Big thanks to James Harris & Tabitha Ambrose for stepping up behind the wheel, racing can be brutal like that, but it's all part of the learning for our students.

The vehicles also turned heads with their fresh new look - big thanks to Tim at TP Race Design for the sharp new wraps, which ex-students trackside couldn't stop talking about!

Take a look at what our Certificate III students have been working this past week!

✅ Luming network diagnostics - building the electrical knowledge needed before progressing to live vehicles
✅ Wheel alignments & camber setups - understanding how track characteristics influence tyre wear and handling
✅ Manual chassis measurement - because a bent chassis doesn't lie, and neither do the numbers

Every skill learned in the workshop is a skill that translates directly to the pit lane. This is the foundation of a career in motorsport and we're proud to be shaping the next generation of motorsport professionals💪🔧

Our Certificate IV students have been busy manufacturing custom exhaust gaskets for the BA Falcon in the workshop.

So why does a racecar need them?

Exhaust gaskets create a tight seal between engine and exhaust components, preventing leaks and ensuring maximum efficiency. In motorsport, even the smallest exhaust leak can impact performance, power delivery, and reliability.

And because racecars are highly modified, with custom headers, exhaust systems and engine configurations, off-the-shelf gaskets often won’t fit. That’s why our students measure, design and fabricate precision custom gaskets to suit the exact specifications of the car.

Our Certificate III students swapped the classroom for the track last week!

As part of their training, they’ve been learning how to collect, understand, and interpret performance data, and what better way to put that into practice than behind the wheel?🏎️💨

This karting session gave students the chance to see how data translates into real-world performance, helping them connect theory to action in a fun, high-energy environment.

Our students aren't just building skills; they’re experiencing firsthand how data drives results in motorsport! 💪
